About this ebook

This book begins with the childhood sweetheart husband who was having strange behavior and nightmare flashbacks of Vietnam leaving his home. His wife and four young children are now stranded and alone. The wife is filled with two overwhelming emotions: (1) freedom, as no longer would she have to deal with this unfathomable behavior, and (2) extreme fear, fear of how she and the children would pay for food and rent in this most expensive city. As the endless calls come in from doctors, lawyers, police, and random women, the wife decides to test the citys infinite possibilities of love and hope. This puts her on the brink of insanity.

I was born in the mountains of Arizona and grew up in Los Angeles and Phoenix. I completed my undergraduate degree in three years in English literature from Arizona State University. Then I lived in the South for several years due to my husband being in the military and being stationed there. There I received my master’s degree in emotional disturbances from the College of William and Mary in Virginia. We were eventually transferred to San Francisco after my husband’s second tour overseas. I then did postgraduate work in hypnosis at the University of San Francisco and substitute teaching in the high school districts in all the Bay Area. Ten years after being injured in Vietnam, my husband decided to go off wandering to find himself, leaving me and our four children alone and dejected. We persisted, and I began my counseling business, incorporating my training, wisdom, spiritual astrology, and natural medicine. I continue with that today. Living here for over forty years, I have learned the sane and the insane factors that contribute to the city’s personality. I have an herb and flower garden, which inspired my work. Also my four grown children and three grandchildren have brought many challenges, but so much happiness, to my life and continue to teach me what is important. What once were lemons are now lemonade.

Joker's Playground - Lynn Hale Shauingér

    JOKER’S PLAYGROUND

Living in a Joker’s playground: laughing at the ships at sea

Queen of Hearts has stole the diamonds and she’s given them to me.

See the Aces with their hats off, bowing there to Number Three:

Kings and Queens in royal headdress cannot let the Jacks be free.

I have played this game so many times the cards are getting worn.

Even as I blow the house out I can see the Queen is torn.

When will games of war be over: when will the Joker finally see

Hearts of players can be broken and the fix is not for free.

    Joker’s playground………………………..Joker’s playground.

We’re just living in a Joker’s playground and the fix is not for free.

If the house could learn to deal fair and all the players clearly see

What the rules and chances were then I’d place the bets on me.

But a house that’s full of diamonds has no hearts to feel the pain,

So the Clubs will conquer wisdom with their intellect and sharp refrain.

Revolution of the masses has no hand in games of cards,

And stacks of average numbers search forever for their stars.

When will games of war be over: when will the Joker finally see

Hearts of players can be broken and the fix is not for free.

    Joker’s playground…………………………Joker’s playground.

We’re just living in a Joker’s playground and the fix is not for free.

The players sound like storms of rain in a Noah’s ark charade

As the stately actors scurry by flaunting bets on the parade.

The lonely and forsaken saint wonders how the players deal

As time closes all perception of what is false and what is
