The Unknown Freedom - Akarsh Raker

    PROLOGUE

I t has been quite a while since India got freedom but still there are things

that haven’t achieved freedom still. A kid who is interested in painting does not have the freedom to take it as a course after 10th grade, he has to study either science, commerce or arts which he is not interested in. If a crime is committed on a call girl she does not have a freedom to file a case against the crime because she will be the one to get arrested first.

On the other hand we have the freedom of expression which allows us to express things we want to share to the world. I am using this right to introduce you to an unknown freedom for the citizens of India through four stories.

    HIGH FIVE

C ool breeze, cloudy weather and greenery all around as I was travelling to

Bangalore back from Pune during the summer of 2022.

Aditya accompanied me in the journey. It was 8am when we had left Pune. He got a message to his mobile. It seemed like a twitter alert message. I asked him what it is. He replied that it said ‘#Mandate2024 is now trending’.

It’s going to be an interesting election this time, Aditya said. I nodded and concentrated on driving.

The fight will be between our PM Vrushabh Patel and new guy Ajay. Aditya shared his thoughts about the mandate.

Ajay? No way, Vrushabh Patel will win by a huge margin. He is a veteran in this.

Ajay is my friend from many years and look at what they have achieved, he will surely win, Aditya justified.

Yaa I know, setting up a party at this young age is really impressive.

It’s not only about setting up a party. It’s an incredible story to success from Ajay and his friends, I got to know about this a week back when I visited Ajay Aditya said.

Later Aditya explained me the story behind their Success.

    ONE

I t was on the eve of Christmas in Delhi, Ajay got up very late in the morning around 11am. Those were the days of cultural festival in the college, so he left home late that day. It was very cold in Delhi. He covered himself with his new pull-over and left home.

As he was on his way to college, he happened to come across a procession of a politician who was campaigning for the election. He waited for the procession to move faster as all roads were blocked. One guy behind him spoke to his friend, How much ever you vote for them, they don’t care about us after the election, sick of it man! His friend nodded his head indicating he also agreed with him. Even Ajay also somewhat agreed is most of the citizens do in this generation.

An old man came closer to that guy and said, When you cannot do something, don’t blame others. If you had taken interest in politics and won an election, you didn’t had to blame anyone unlike now. If you are so frustrated by these politicians, step into politics and show that you are better than him instead of talking bull shit here.

The old man’s words were filled with lot of aggression and it had a sense of frustration. The impact of his words was something Ajay hadn’t felt before. As he walked to the college, he asked himself, Am I doing something for my Country.

Ajay further analysed the situation, Stop blaming only the rapists, police or law for the loss of rape victims or crimes committed. We all are equally responsible for every crime.

I always wondered, why somebody didn’t do something about the crimes committed and globalization of nation, and then I realized I am somebody.

He finally realized that there should be some contribution to the country from him. Even if it’s a small contribution, he was determined to contribute. That day was the day which changed his life forever.

After reaching home, he quickly called up his best mate, Abhi. Hey brother, wassup?.

Abhi, listen tonight at 10pm we all need to talk in a conference call. Inform Sid, Naina and Sonia.

Okay!, Abhi disconnected with a little doze of shock.

Later at 10pm they all had a conference call,

Abhi: Hey guys, Ajay have organized this call.

Sonia: Hiee! How are you people?

Naina: I am fine Sonia! How about you and how is our bhabhi Abhi?

Abhi had a girlfriend since he was in 11th standard and all of his friends used to call her bhabhi. Even Ajay had a girlfriend from 10th,
