About this ebook

While written for young people, this book should appeal to all ages. The story is about a young professional woman who lives in a small urban community in Cleveland, Ohio. She has forgotten her past, but its hidden dramas are reaching a boiling point. This book expresses the value of love and support from family and friends, and most of all, the importance of having the determination to dig into the past.

    The Wedding Day

Susie rummaged through her bedroom closet, searching for her black pump shoes to wear at her sister’s wedding. For Susie, this was more difficult than trying on the dresses to see what would look right for this special day. Finally, she located the pumps sitting on top of another shoebox far back in the closet. They were right next to a pair of tall red boots also stuffed in the back. Susie grabbed the pumps as she rushed out the front door. But as soon as she sat down in her car, she wondered,How in the world did my pumps get in the bedroom closet near my red boots? Susie’s brain was working on overdrive trying to solve the mystery, because she had no recollection whatsoever of bringing the pumps up from the basement and putting them in the closet. Susie sighed. Then there were the red boots. She hadn’t thought about those boots in years and had hoped that by stashing them in the back of her closet she could erase the memories that haunted her. What was I doing for over two hours and where was I? Susie thought desperately. The last thing she remembered was pulling out of her driveway. She looked at her mother with a dazed expression and walked away feeling ashamed. Susie’s mother followed behind her and demanded an answer that Susie couldn’t give. Tears welled up in Susie’s eyes,
