About this ebook

A collection of thirteen poems that speak of the beginning, the end and every aspect of life in between. From the pains of losing to the joys of creation, this collection makes a journey from fantasy to realism. The poet satires with shameful events of history and glorifies the happiness of belonging to the world. The inevitability of death and the pleasure of simply existing within the universe to witness the wonders of creation is where "Fateless Thirteen" exists.

Anish Kanjilal

Anish Kanjilal is like one of us. He weeps in anger, laughs in pain and goes to work everyday. He teaches English and likes to read. But, there is one thing he cannot do like us - he cannot compromise with the world around him - so he composes poetry.

    (Part I)

The cawing crows woke up the pregnant mother,

It was an end to a lengthy night and a beginning of a frothy day.

Throughout the night the owl has hooted,

And the one inside her swollen womb has been terrified by

    Such sound and yelp.

It was inapt and it was inept.

As the bitch has also given birth to a puppy,

Incapable, impotent, incompetent, insufficient, insolent, incongruous-idiot.

    (Part II)

A bemuse child subjected to taunt,

    A maladroit, malicious, malignant monster.

Anyhow, he grew like a creeper on plants,

Anyhow, he grew like algae on the surface of water.

    Grew, grew and became mammoth.
