image001.jpgIntroduction
Immediately after I obtained my bachelor’s degree, I set two goals: find a real job and get rid of my lifetime fear of public speaking. I had to do the latter because my phobia successfully silenced me from asking important questions during my professors’ lectures.
It took 3 months to obtain my first goal. I did get my first real job. My second goal however was still far from sight. I was still struggling with my public speaking ability (back then I almost convinced myself I had none). I read many books and listened to experts on the subject with zero improvement. I also enrolled in an expensive 3-day training program but to no avail. The problem with these books and programs is that they were written by people who were born to be speakers. The authors had no idea what it means to struggle with public speaking and not to have a voice in front of an audience . . . or so I thought.
Fast forward. I became the public speaking champion (in Arabic) in the entire Gulf region in May, 2010 and the national (District) champion of public speaking (in English) in Saudi Arabia in April, 2013. These were a series of contests globally organized by Toastmasters International where thousands of members compete in public speaking annually.

That accomplishment took me ten years, but the entire process of building a confidence strong enough to overcome my fear finally bore fruits, and I am eager to share the secrets I have learned in becoming a good speaker.
In this book, I introduce eight super simple steps to becoming a successful public speaker based on personal experiences and inspiring people. These steps are practical and to the point. I invested quite an effort to make it easy for any reader, whether a seasoned professional speaker or a beginner, to understand the concepts and follow along.
Each chapter will introduce and focus on one step with
