    23 Years Old Me

I had always believed the theory of When there’s farewell, there’s always reunion.

As I walk in to the hotel I work in, the chandelier was weaved together with rubies, carnelians, yellow crystals, emeralds, sapphires, and amethysts play by themselves a little tune, shining their rainbow light to the Grand Clock, showing time by the two straight, thin, and black moonstone made handles pointing, the clock face are pieced together by shards of stain glass, it looks like a cut out paint splash, looking rather artistic. At the back, 10 feet tall window shedding in the sunlight, a café lies there, with soft sofas lying there, ready to be squashed down. The counter is made by moonstone and everyone has a comfortable spinning chair sitting on, behind the counter are the newest iMac doing their jobs, some of them are playing online games (the colleagues, not the computers themselves), some of them are seriously working and organizing, and some of them are greeting guests. The entire hotel is so lively and bright.

I’m now working as the head-lobby manger in this 7-star hotel, usually I sat at the reception counter and check-in or out for the guests, but sometimes when people call at the phone for indoor services and others missed it, I do them too! Like serving food, or solving psychological problems!

Ms. PawPurrs, thanks to your diligent, and your overtime working, many rooms was tidied up out of planned! Boss said when I entered the hotel.

That’s what I should do. I smiled, feeling a little bit embarrassed.

You shall be rewarded, I’ll add 3,000 dollars to your salary this month! Boss exclaimed.

Uhh… Thank you sir! I bowed.

Now back to work! Diligent girl! Boss is in a good mood.

    Yes, sir! I saluted.

When I was walking to the counter desk, a few people were pointing at me and whispering to each other, but I ignored them as always. I went to my desk and sit down and opened my notebook and went through the list of people who checked in when I was away.

The reason that the others are always talking about me, is that I worked too hard for the hotel; same as when I was in school back in the days. I never expect myself to be a top student back in the days, I just don’t want myself have a too bad record, my expectation for me myself is higher than qualified a bit, but my parents are just insane in this! They want my record at each subject is above 90%!!!

    Sorry! But I’m not a Ms. Straight-A!

At places where I work I didn’t care that much, cause the harder you work, you earn more money, but the others don’t think that way; Their thinking is no matter how hard they work, it’s still that little money, so they don’t work hard, and they always talk about that the Boss like me more than the others, which is SO NOT TRUE!!! He just scold me in front of some A-list Hollywood celebrities last month! OK?!

Sitting on the desk beside me is Betty, the nicest colleague to me, she also works painstaking, but sometimes her hardworking doesn’t get attention of the boss, so she envy me a lot in many situations. We help each other in different situations and when we’re down.

Hey Alice! Are you going to MineCon this weekend? Betty asked me.

Yup. I have panels to be done. I answered.

The hotel had been a little busy these days because MineCon 2025 is hosting in New York and the convention is LITERALLY beside the hotel and it’s starting any day soon! So I’m quite surprised that the others even have time to GOSSIP!

Just as I pretty lost in my mind, I heard a kerfuffle in French down at the café, I stood up and walked there in my very uncomfortable heels. (Good thing I put a serious amount of effort in French back at high school.)

    Ta… Ta… Ta…

    Merci mademoiselle.

    (Translate to English)

Excuse me, sir, how can I help you?

I ordered a latte, but he gave me a cup of cappuccino, which is more expensive than the latte, now he’s here, do nothing!

I’m so sorry sir, do you wait a few minutes while I make you a latte?

    Thank you miss.

I hurried to the counter and expeditiously grind the coffee beans, as soon as the powder pour out into the cup, I poured the exact 250 ml of milk into it. As soon as it’s well mixed, I used the condense milk to draw the pattern of our hotel. I put the lid on and took 4 dollars and 50 cents out of my wallet, I handed them to this very ticked off customer:

Là vous allez, monsieur. Je me suis de nouveau excusé pour les inconvénients causes. (There you go sir, I once again apologize for the inconvenience caused.)

    Merci mademoiselle. (Thank you, miss)

Show-off. I heard someone muttered at the back. Yeah right!

When it the Grand Clock in the lobby hits 20:00, Boss told me that I’m released for today’s work and gave me the arrangements of tomorrow, I thanked him and drove to my cabin with a wooden cupola in my flying car. Luckily, by the time I get home, it’s only 20:15, so I took
