About this ebook

Pantoums and Other Poems is the result of an exercise the

Suncoast Authors and Writers Group partook in writing

the Pantoum style of poetry. A group of eight different

authors participated in this effort and their work

is as varied as the authors themselves.

We hope you enjoy the poetry of Rosalie Giansante,

Robert Green, Gloria Lynn, Dorothy Ramsdell, Barbara Rhodes,

Eric Rhodes, William Tang and Caroline Westerhof.

The Suncoast Writers and Authors Group is a close knit collection of unique individuals, each with a story to tell of a life well-lived. While this book of poetry was being written and assembled our group lost a member who was not only a pillar among us, but a pillar in the community. It is with great sorrow that we dedicate this book to Eric Foster Rhodes’ memory.

A second member of our group, Marie Cirile, also passed away while this work was being assembled. Marie was unique as the first woman detective with the New York City Police Department and wrote a book, Memoirs of a Police Officer about her experiences. This book is also dedicated to Marie’s memory.

Two of our members’ life partners also passed while this book was being written and brought to completion. The Suncoast Writers and Authors Group wants to dedicate this work to their memories as well. Without their loving support where would we be? William Tang’s wife Dana Lynne and Gloria Lynn’s husband, David are both missed.

In keeping with the theme of this book, Robert Green composed a work of Pantoum poetry for this dedication:

    A Sudden Gale

It came on fast, like a sudden gale.

No warning, no indication, no cure.

Things coming apart, starting to fail.

They’ll never be like they were.

No warning, no indication, no cure.

One day healthy, the next day sick.

They’ll never be like they were.

Leaving our head spinning, it came on so quick.

One day healthy, the next day sick.

Loved ones gather wishing them well.

Leaving our head spinning, it came on so quick.

Remembering good times before they fell.
