ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I WOULD LIKE TO thank those who made this project possible. First I would like to thank my husband for babysitting the children while I went outside to walk. I would also want to thank my children; Bridget, Isaac, and Joseph for the time they allowed me to exercise and to sit at the computer to work on this book. I would like to thank my dad, Joseph, and my sister, Isabel, for bringing to my awareness the fact that I was fat and needed to lose the weight. I also want to thank my mom, Leah, for saying that my weight was ok when I felt the pain of being criticized, which made me feel better. I thank my brothers; Jack, Humphrey, and S.K. for looking surprised when they saw how much weight I had added, otherwise I would never have known that I looked that different to them.
Next I would like to thank our family friend, Ibrahim Kirwa, for seeing my potential and pushing me to begin and to finish the writing of this book when I least thought it was necessary. I also thank his wife, Frashier and his children; Victoria and Alex, for allowing him do so. I would also want to thank my friend, James, for rushing me to finish the book whenever I would drift away from it. Last but not the least, I would also want to thank my friends who complimented me for the weight loss and those who shared with me their interest to lose their own weight since that is what really caused me to see that writing this book was necessary. Kirwa had pushed me for many days to write the book but when one day he said that he wanted me to write it so that he could read it and lose his own weight, I vowed to myself that I must write the book until the end.
PROLOGUE
WHEN I GOT my daughter in 2005, I gained weight and carried it for 3 years before I decided to lose it. It was the birth of my twin boys in 2008 that inspired me to lose the weight. The decision to lose weight and how I lost it is what inspired me to write this book. I lost about 70 pounds within 5 months and shocked many. The purpose of writing this book is to encourage those who wish to lose weight naturally to achieve their goal.
The weight-loss tips that I have given are the natural ones that will not require one to be rich to afford. I have used the common English language and avoided difficult scientific terms that are likely to discourage people from either reading the book or trying out the tips I have given. I have written the most important points to remember in bold so that readers with less reading time can peruse through the book easier and faster. I do believe that anyone who reads the book will find something inspiring and life changing. Most of what I have written is from personal experiences.
LOSING WEIGHT
THE PURPOSE OF writing this book is to encourage those who wish to lose weight naturally to achieve that goal. It’s to motivate them to do what they already know. We all know that the secret of losing weight is diet and exercise. Therefore, it’s not even a secret because it was revealed centuries ago. But why do some people still have the weight problem? Why do other people still decide to have weight-loss surgeries and accept to pay thousands of dollars for those risky procedures? Because the secret of diet and exercise is easier said than done. That’s where I come in to encourage the people who feel like it’s hard to lose weight to feel like it’s possible and to know for sure that they can do it.
Sometimes we all want to sit there and do nothing because it may be fun to do so. Sometimes we are tired and other times we are sick, but most of the times we just want to watch television, use the computer, iPad, or Smartphone. Whatever it is that causes people not to want to get physically active is what I am trying to change. It’s all in the mind, so I’m trying to get them to change their minds by welcoming them into my mind to let them see my thought process and how I manage to lose weight fast. I am trying to help them know that they can diet and exercise without feeling as if it’s a punishment. It is the OBLIGATION of dieting and exercising that causes people not to want to do it. I would think that the obligation causes the rebellion. In my case, I no longer feel the obligation. I have set my lifestyle in such a way that dieting and exercising is part of my life, especially exercising.
The main reason why I decided to focus on my personal experiences while writing this book especially concerning weight loss is that there are many facts that I have only composed without necessarily consulting science, and I believe are true because I relied on them during my weight loss journey and other journeys I have gone through while in the process of pursuing happiness. I wish to share my experiences that I underwent which resulted in my success and thus my conclusions.
My decisions to carry out the actions that led to my achievement of my goal weight were as a result of my insight and readiness to finally shed the weight. Besides relying on the knowledge I had already acquired over the years, I also relied on the knowledge that I attained from all the experiments I tried during my weight loss journey that resulted to my accomplishment of my dream weight. I was surprised at how much knowledge just flows in when the door is opened. The most important time to me was the eye opening moment when I made the decision to get my body back but the most interesting thing was knowing that most of the knowledge I needed to lose weight had been here with me the whole time. All I had needed to do was just put it into practice.
MY WEIGHT STORY
I HAD ALWAYS LOOKED slim and fine for so many years but I had taken it for granted and hadn’t realized that some people struggle with weight. How could I complain of being a size 8, 10, or 12? I felt in control of what size I wanted to be. It was when I got my first child that I, too, gained weight. I was so much in denial that I kept telling myself that the weight would be gone in a short time. I did not even take the initiative to buy new bigger clothes right away. What would the bigger clothes be for if I was going to lose the weight soon? Almost a year passed
