About this ebook

G.L. Giles is grateful to be one of the "Indie Author" success stories. Shes had over 140 major bookstore signings (for various Borders, Barnes & Noble and Waldenbooks stores) in nine states in the Southeast and Midwest over the last two years. Shes also signed at some wonderful Independent Bookstores and businesses during this time as well. Shes been on television six times talking about her books for various stations in South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia. In 2008, she had the career-making experience of being interviewed by the legendary Joe Franklin about being a nontraditionally published author and about her popular vampire series; it aired on his Bloomberg Radio show in New York and was heard by millions in 2008. Shes been a Top 10 Royalty Earner for her publisher and was recently honored by being in the "Author Spotlight" at their site. Furthermore, shes had an article, poem and interviews published in MetaCreative Magazine in 2008, and she writes a book review column called "The G.L. Giles Files" for Psychic Times. Her experiences with the unique challenges of being a self-published and successful author are gathered and presented in the first article in this book entitled "My Advice on Marketing your Nontraditionally Published Book." In the spirit of thwarting the hegemony and not being anti-hodgepodgery, shes also included in this anthology some of her award-winning poetry, micro-fiction, short stories and sample chapters, etc. from the final book in her vampire series. Finally, she decided it would be fun to include some of the digital pictures shes taken over the last few years while living on the edge of the vibrant spinney in Summerville, South Carolina.

Praise for V4: WATER VAMPS (A YOUNG ADULT NOVELLA): "I was thrilled when I read about the Water Vamps that Giles created...every author needs to come up with a new twist that makes their vampires different, unique, and memorable. With vampires seen as a species, Giles has definitely done this over all, but then she takes it one step further by creating an entirely new species that seems a little like a mermaid, a little like a siren, and all vampire!..their story was not completely told until V4: WATER VAMPS and it will slake the thirst of anyone wanting to know more. Giles weaves a tale of intrigue and gives us a glimpse of the underwater world of the Water Vamps and the history and origins behind these beautiful and dangerous creatures is truly unique!...We get to interact with these creatures on a more personal level: they go to school, have spelling and vocabulary tests, have to deal with their parents, and even crush on each other. In this sense, we get to see the more 'human' side of the water vampires and see that the youth water vamps are similar to the human heroes, Robyn and Marion. Written for young adults, the main characters are children and the adults are secondary to the story, which will appeal to any young adult. Robyn and Marion understand each other, and they (like the water vamps) have to deal with all the things children deal with, despite their unusual gifts. Even without those gifts, Robyn is a role model for any young female with her strength of character, respect for adults (at least those that deserve it) and her loyalty to Marion, who deserves his own credit with his loyalty and friendship…In the end, even the water vamps come to be [those] we can relate to and accept in this thrilling ride into the waters of Charleston, South Carolina.” Deanna Anderson, Author/Reviewer

Praise for V3: The Vampire Vignettes ReVamped

If I were a vampire, I’d want G.L. Giles to write about me. No kidding. When I picked up this book, I was immediately drawn into the ‘realism’ of the shadowy underworld of vampires. Gone was the romantic, elegant and oh so sugary vampires… only to discover some real vampires! Sexy and genuine… well, to be make believe characters. I used to play Vampire The Masquerade (Toreador mostly—author, hello!—but with leanings toward the Giovanni and their arrogant and secret ways, if you must know) and heck… had this novel been around then, I’d have told the others to forget the book, let’s make up our own game and use G.L. Giles characters and scenarios! Like something out of a movie or a game, with characters you can readily get involved with, this book grips you and leads you down a path of adventure… This is what vampire reading should be and I hope to see this book start a trend. While the morbid and Victorian vampires who hide in shade and shadow had their day… these vampires are what the future is made of!

    Twisted Dreams Magazine

This is no ordinary book of the undead… nor is it your same old, tired vampire tales. V3: The Vampire Vignettes ReVamped contains tales that stand alone and, at the same time, intertwine with each other. The situations in the everyday lives of G.L. Giles’ vampires are not totally unlike the ones you and I have on a regular basis—but the dark twists (and trysts) of these characters make you realize you’re just a fraction away from being a vampire yourself. As you read along, imagining you’re the one in these ‘seemingly normal’ situations, the supernatural aspect rears it’s [sic] caliginous head and you think, ‘My god, what the heck am I . . . uh… IS HE/SHE DOING??’ Yes, it’s THAT engrossing… A sweet side note to V3 is that you needn’t read Giles’ first two vampire editions (The Vampire Vignettes and V2:B4—The Vampire Vignettes Prequel) to enjoy this book—in fact, reading V3 first will steer you to the others without confusion… So, heed my advice: follow Vladina and the rest of the South Carolina incubi and lose yourself in the stygian glory that is ‘V3’.

"Provocative, hip, sexy stories with powerful visuals. The Vampire [Vignettes] Series by G.L. Giles is an intoxicatingly refreshing view of vampires, humans and the gray areas in-between… Ms. Giles’ portrayals are sharp, accurate and real. Her research and knowledge of Charleston history is easily seen and one can see the scholarly author behind each word. What I found in the stories is a powerful reflection of humans to vampires and back again. Vampires are much more than bloodsuckers; they are powerful, immortal beings with lives, families, fortunes and lovers, and, as with all beings, they have [a] story and what we have here is an intricate weaving of many stories into one ever-expanding and colorful tapestry… I find the characters to be real, with an ever-deepening awareness in
