About this ebook

1 Corinthians 2:9,But, on the contrary, as the Scripture says, What eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man, [all that] God has prepared (made and keeps ready) for those who love Him [a]who hold Him in affectionate reverence, promptly obeying Him and gratefully recognizing the benefits He has bestowed].
On the cover of this book is a picture of a tree that represents The Tree of Life. This tree was not only real, but symbolic of Gods gift of eternal life and blessings. Ironic, is it not, that a tree at the beginning of creation, would symbolize the ultimate blessing at the end of Christs earthly reign, as a cross. Whatever we would desire, and everything we will need to navigate this life can be found under this tree. Our shelter from lifes storms is here; protection from our enemy is here; health, healing, knowledge, and wisdom, are all here. Think of these things the next time the storms of life threaten you. There is protection Under The Umbrella of God.

Jerry Webb

Pastor is an ordained Elder, and Pastor of the Men’s ministry at Newness of Life Bible Church in Oxon Hill, Maryland. By his own admission, Pastor Webb received his calling into the ministry some years ago, but like many of us, was hesitant in accepting that call. As Pastor Webb said, “when God wants you, He will make an offer to you that you can’t refuse.” His calling was given through Acts 8:31, which states: “And he said, how can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.” This scripture reference illustrates the teaching of God’s word to others. Simply stated, by Pastor, “what an honor it is to serve by teaching His word.”

    Acknowledgements

I would like to acknowledge all those seekers of the truth. Those men and women of God, who choose to be doers of the lesser services, and will not compromise the word of God for fame or fortune. To my wife Velvet, who’s personality is described by her name; I love you deeply. To our children, grandchildren, great-grandson and god-son: Ozell, Ladrue, Brandon, Devon,

Dedra, Kevin, Kelly, Jakola, Marquis and Caribbean, Ozell, Jr., and Little Zaclee, I thank God for allowing me be a seed in your lives.

    Dedication

To God, the Father and creator of all, to our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ, whose sacrifice has given us access to the throne of God, to the Holy Spirit, who leads us into all truths and bears witness thatJesus Christ is the son of God. To Newness of Life Bible Church, our Shepherd, Apostle James Mills, and Pastor Vanessa Mills for their obedience to God and the adoption of my wife Velvet and myself, as their spiritual son and daughter, and for sharing the love of God with us in word and deed. To Bishop Adrian Taylor for being an example of principals and integrity, and Pastor Geraldine (mother) Gilliam, whose prayers truly lift our hearts and move our spirits. We are forever grateful to you all.

    Introduction

Sometimes, the best view of God is in retrospect. We are so busy in our daily lives that we completely overlook the previsions afforded us by our Creator. In all actuality, we are obsessed with our temporal pursuits, to the point, that we can’t enjoy the life God has so generously given us. Obviously, we don’t understand what blessings really are, and have fallen victim to laziness. In our pursuit of the natural life, we have all but abandoned the knowledge that leads to the abundant life.

The concept of being peculiar people, which means that we are set apart by God for His purpose and our every need has been provided for from the beginning until forever. Suddenly, we begin to see that we are still in God’s garden, and can partake of all that is provided. Man may break a promise with God, but God will not break any promise to man: for to do so would be void of principal and power.

How blessed we are in this divine exchange. God gives us His grace for just recognizing who He is. What I have described to you is the Umbrella of God: a covering of protection for us, and allows those welcomed blessings to saturate us like a warm spring rain.

I invite you, the reader, to understand that this writing is from the view of a witness, and I enjoy no celebration of myself, but marvel at the simplicity, power, and absolute truth of His word.
