About this ebook

There are different interpretations of the biblical book, Song of
Solomon. This is understandable because interpretations of the book
roots are in faith traditions and interpreters experiences of the Holy Spirit.
The different interpretations of the book of Song of Solomon give insight
that affirms God at work in the interpreters when the message of God is
heard anew through each approach. Some interpret Song of Solomon as
allegorical biblical text. This interpretation asserts the book of Song of
Solomon, as a love story between God and the church, or Christ and the
Church. Another allegorical interpretation of the book asserts the book,
Song of Solomon, as a love story between Christ and the soul.
Others interpret the book, Song of Solomon, as literal biblical text,
read in a normal way. One literal interpretation of the book, Song of
Solomon, asserts the book a love story between a young woman and a
youth, who is a shepherd. In this interpretation the young woman rejects
the love of the most powerful man on earth, Solomon, to embrace the love
of a young shepherd. She marries the shepherd, and their marriage blooms
in nature.

    PREFACE

In this interpretation, the young woman rejects the love of the most powerful man on earth, Solomon, to embrace the love of a young shepherd. She marries the shepherd and their marriage blooms in nature.

Under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, this book also interprets Song of Solomon as literal biblical text. It is a love story between Solomon and a black woman whom he courts and marries. After years of marriage, the couple still loves each other and still talks of love for each other in sexual and sensual language.

This book shares moments of love between Solomon and the black woman throughout their courtship and marriage. No love moment moves beyond the Chapter in which it begins and ends. Love moments between Solomon and the black woman are no different from love moments between modern lovers. What differs is the book’s expression of those love moments. Love moments are moments when the eyes fall in love with the body. Eyes of love express that love in erotic and sensual speech. As love grows from courtship to marriage, erotic and sensual speech becomes holy expressions.

The black woman in Song of Solomon that Solomon courts and marries is unknown in history. She is not only unknown as a person; she is a nameless woman. We do not know her as a woman of history, but we do know the history of Solomon. The Hebrew Bible dates his history in the books of Samuel, I Kings, and I Chronicles. He is also mention in the Psalms. In the New Testament, gospel writers Matthew and Luke include Solomon in their account of the life and ministry of Jesus, the Christ. King Solomon’s biblical history gives creditability to the black woman as a
