Heart, Soul & Rhyme - Runas C. Powers III
RECOVERY
I Once Lived
I once lived for weed and money.
I used to smoke l’s to the head
Until I was busted by the feds.
I changed my life and started living right
And kept my rhymes tight.
Another day, another way, as I pray.
God keep me clean for today.
See I am an addict
That has to have it.
So I do not get started
Because this disease, I cannot out-smart it.
It is deep rooted within
So I just call it sin.
One day at a time.
I am going to get mine.
As in recovery
Which is God’s glory.
My Education
My addiction education
Began on youthful occasions
Which lead in different variations.
What fun became a vocation,
A very painful situation.
I went from a lot of people to being alone
And to hold on by my own
Was hard.
But saved by God
Out of the turmoil
To the royal place of serenity.
How life’s struggle is but heavenly
And my education is apparently
Well worth it
Because now I can help someone.
How I Came
I have never been a listener.
All I did was scheme, street dream
And smoke Swishers.
I lived to drink and blaze
But eventually I fought through fog and smog
And stayed in a daze
And hell I raised.
I was hurting
