About this ebook
Based on a true story
This story is written from the context of the fly on the wall. This is the story before the spin doctors and the layers laid hold upon it. This has happened in your community or it is yet to occur. This story is about people (Both good and bad) who are caught up in the world of the corrupt and powerful. Amongst the glitter and glamour is darkness lurking in the background. Perhaps the darkness behind it makes it glitter all the more. Even the delivery of a beautiful bouquet of roses could have an ulterior motive or dark agenda behind it. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. Despite our best efforts sometimes tragedy happens anyway.
Reginald Roberts
Reginald began his law enforcement career in the Military Police Corps of the United States Army. After military service He joined a federal civilian police force on a military installation. He yearned for the intrigue and excitement of a metropolitan police force. He later joined the police department of city of which he was born and raised. It was not only more than he bargained for but the he was in for the wildest ride of his life. From high speed chases to chases to tracking down and arresting some of the city’s most wanted. (Armed and dangerous) Trouble and criminals just seemed to literally follow him around during his shift. Reginald is big as a grizzly bear yet soft spoken and calm in demeanor. After 30 years of law enforcement there are many experiences both good and bad. From the broken homes and the broken bones there had to be a point to something. From all the negative experiences there had to be something learned to pass on to prevent so much suffering. Blue Roses is one story of many.

From the Author:
It is not unreasonable for society to expect professionalism and the highest standards of conduct from their law enforcement officials. When those who enforce the law lack accountability, there is the risk of the organization becoming a law unto itself. The public’s rights and freedoms could be encroached upon. There are those who abuse authority and the power of office but they are in a small minority. We stand with the law and as a people united to combat the scourge of corruption. The majority of those who uphold the law are honest and dedicated. It is incumbent upon all of us to support those in public service. The goal is to improve the quality of life which we hold so dear.
Meet the Chief
The small tinker bell rang as the door to the flower shop opened. A tall good looking man stood in the doorway. This man was Dana Blaine. Dana was a cop. Not just any cop, he was the Top Cop.
(Chief of Police) Julie is the shop owner. She is a short brunette. She wore an apron as she worked behind the floral arrangements. Even behind an apron she had the body of a sex goddess. The smell of Potpourri filled the air along with the burning aromatic candles. However, the essence of a woman’s perfume was an added delight.
Dana was in plain clothes. He had on a sports jacket, a turtleneck shirt, and tan dockers. Everything was color coordinated. Dana had the build of an athlete. He was a 44-year-old hunk of a man that many women dream of having. His hair was styled neatly. His appearance was that of a male magazine model.
Julie turned to see Dana as he walked into the flower shop. Julie greeted Dana, Good morning sir may I help you?
Dana replies, Yes.
I’d like to have some flowers delivered.
Julie asked, What type of flowers would you like to send?
Blue Roses
Dana replied.
What happens next is a series of thoughts which pass through both their minds not unlike those thoughts we have when we encounter other people.
Dana thinks, Hot Body
Probably does not have her sights set too high working in a flower shop.
Maybe she owns the place.
In that case, I’ll see how she responds and I’ll put her on my list of later prospects when I have time.
Julie thinks, I would like to get flowers from this guy.
I wonder who the lucky girl is.
Oh my god, he’s got a gun under his coat.
Is he going to rob me?
I’ve got to stay calm.
Get a grip and don’t appear nervous.
What’s that shiny thing next to the gun?
Oh, a badge,
This guy is a cop.
Back to the real conversation Julie said, We have been dying white roses to the color specification customers prefer.
We can fill your order right away.
How many would you like delivered?
Dana said, A dozen roses will do.
Julie asks, What do you want the card to say?
Dana responds, From Your Secret Admirer
Julie looks to see Dana has a wedding band on but makes no reference to it. She thinks. This guy probably has lots of girls on the hook.
Julie asks, Will that be cash or charge today?
Dana replies, Cash.
Julie thinks, Smart guy to pay cash that way his wife won’t find out.
Dana said, Deliver it at 45216 Pleasant Harbor Drive.
Will you deliver today?
Yes sir, before 3:00 P.M.
said Julie.
As Dana leaves he thinks, I don’t have time to pursue this now.
I have too many things on my plate.
If some other things don’t work out, I’ll come back to this flower shop and hang around to see if she’s a possibility.
Julie observed Dana leave. There is something about this guy.
He looks great but there is an air of something else.
A woman’s intuition tells me I may have just dodged a bullet.
Two perfect strangers have just met. There was an interaction on the surface but many other dynamics were taking place at the same time. Julie had no idea she was waiting on the Chief of Police in her flower shop. The Chief saw a beautiful woman and wondered the possibilities of a later encounter. In life there are things as simple as a regular purchase of flowers in a floral shop. But in reality many more things can be taking place. The possibilities are endless and can change lives and history.
There is a knock on the door at 2:45PM at 45216 Peasant Harbor Drive. Kate peered through the peep hole to see a young man dressed in green. The young man’s nose looks very big and distorted through the peep hole viewing glass. The man has on a green baseball cap with a florist emblem. Kate went to the window of her spacious suburban home and observed a van with a floral business logo on the side. Kate opens her door but leaves the security chain on. As an added measure of security, she braces her foot against the door. The young man announces. A floral delivery,
It’s O.K. Ma’am.
The young man said. I can leave the flowers on the front porch.
A lady has to be very careful these days.
I run into this type of thing all the time.
It’s no problem.
Have a good day and enjoy the flowers."
Kate waits for the flower delivery van to drive away. She then walks out onto the porch where sits the most beautiful arrangement of blue roses she has ever seen. Kate picks up the flowers and looks for the card. You’re Secret Admirer.
She reads. They must be from Dana.
She thinks. What does he have up his sleeve now?
How fitting, I get blue roses from a policeman.
At 4:00 P.M. Dana pulls up to his driveway in his unmarked police car. He gets out and runs his fingers through the front of his hair as he does all the time. He says nothing as he enters the door. He goes to the bedroom and put his gun into his gun safe. He changes into his athletic wear. He comes into the kitchen where the flowers are now on the table. He stares at the flowers briefly then breaks his silence with a cold and calculated voice, Who sent you these flowers?
Kate does not know to be angry or scared. You did.
said Kate. Dana said The Hell I Did!
You haven’t done anything to deserve flowers but apparently you did something for someone who sent you those?
What’s his name?
Some cop?
Dana is serious. He is standing over Kate in an imposing posture. Kate feels this is some cruel joke. Kate gets up to walk away. Dana grabs her by the arm. He applies pressure in his grasp. Kate is reserved to the fact she is not going anywhere. He is too strong. You think you can do better than me?
Dana asks. Kate sobs from the pain of the tight grasp. She looks down and away from Dana. Kate offers no rebuttal. She does not stand up to Dana. Dana finally lets her go. Kate goes into the bathroom and cleans up. She re-applies her makeup, fixes her hair, and prepares dinner just as she would always. Not another word was said about the flowers. The flowers remained on the dinner table. After dinner Dana put the flowers on the dining room table almost as if someone had sent them to him. The flowers remained on the dining room table for about a week without water. Dana finally threw them out.
Kate could only think to herself. "How could Dana use something so beautiful for
