About this ebook

Is a inspiring production about three young ladies (Cynthia, Cassandra, Diane) who are moved by the pastors message so much till they want to do something about it. They choose to go out and witness (bring souls to Christ). Cynthia (the pastors daughter and ring leader) comes upon a street The Post that she feels is a great spot for witnessing. Cassandra (who know the street well) informs her that this particular corner belongs to a gang. Not just any gang but the most dangerous gang. Cynthia vows to stay anyway and the girls go along with her and they encounter drug dealers, prostitutes and bring them to Christ. Meanwhile the gang (who knows nothing about the girls) notice there earnings drop and a different set of people around. Finally the two groups meet and let the play began.

Can I Get A Witness is an uplifting production that will get your congregation Out Of Its Seat and into the Streets!

Author

Norman Hoosier

As a youth, I found out right away the creative flair that burned within. Being the middle child, (1 older brother, 1 older sister 2 younger sisters) made it very difficult to have my own identity. In high school I would write little stories just to satisfy my urge to write. Attending Columbia College, I quickly found out the dedication and consistence of a good writer. Some days it just wasnt happening. The biggest surprise is the convenience of writing in my spare time. As I got older Id try to give myself a schedule and keep it just for writing. Married with three children, finding the time on a consistent basis gets more and more difficult. Being the son of a minister, writing about the church is sort of a confort zone for me. Theres a certain rhythm the church has thats unique. Thoughout my writing career there has been many accomplishments. Modeling, acting, directing, photography and graphic design. Ive faired very well in all of them but writing seems to stand out. I hope to one day with Gods help accomplish my goals on a higher level and handle it with dignity and grace. I reside in Arlington Heights with my wife, Martha Hoosier and Children Nora, Cherita and Ciera.

    Can I Get a Witness

South Side of Chicago Il. 1980

(Scene begins with singing in the background)

(There are people, going into church and the song continues for about five minutes. All of a sudden a different music (Rap Music) starts, three guys run on stage.—From upstage right-they go up to a lady on her way to church, knock her down and take her purse. One of the guys goes through the purse pulls out some money and throws the purse on the lady. He smiles and counts it. Meanwhile the lady gets up picks up her purse and run off. They split the money and run back offstage. The congregation in church is getting ready.—Music is still playing. The minister gets up and begins speaking.)

Pastor Watkins                  —I am deeply disturbed this morning with the degree of crime that is happening on our very streets. On the amount of drugs sold on our very streets, on the amount of prostitution solicitation on our very streets. We go on ignoring it, as if it will go away. The Carson’s boy was killed in daylight and no one came forward.

(All of a sudden the three boys come back on stage and start talking to one another with hand movements. Both scenes happen concurrently.)

Pastor Watkins                  —And now there is crime against our very church right outside those doors. They are snatching our women purses, right outside those doors. They are selling drugs, right outside those doors. They are killing our teenagers, right outside those doors.

(All of a sudden someone walks up to one of the boys and packages are exchanged.)

Pastor Watkins                  —And we ask ourselves why, why are the streets infested with so much crime and violence. Because we have gotten off God’s agenda and have gotten on our own. We fear them so we look the other way.

    (Music starts getting louder)

Pastor Watkins                  —Because we’ve gotten off the streets and given them away. People GOD has not given us the spirit of fear.

    (Music gets louder)

(Boys are very animated laughing and playing. A girl walks up and one of the guys starts talking to her.)

Pastor Watkins                  —(Louder) We must get out there and take our streets back.

    (Music gets louder)

Pastor Watkins                  —The more you let these gang bangers do the more they will do.

    (Music louder)

Pastor Watkins                  —(Very loud) We must tell them all to Stop!

(The MUSIC STOPS one of the boys look around, jesters to the others to go.

As they leave music starts until they are off
