About this ebook

This is a book about new beginnings and fresh paths for those who are truly "at the end of themselves" and are ready to follow a higher wisdom. A wisdom that will not support get rich quick schemes, laziness, slothfulness, or being a sluggard my favorite text on this subject is from Proverbs 6:6 where the author encourages the reader to consider the ways of an ant. "Go to the ant, thou sluggard: consider her ways, and be wise:"

This book will not encourage the selling of drugs or any other illegal means of making it. Yes I have heard many times the question, "why work for McDonalds at minimum wage when you can make so much more dealing drugs?" because it is wrong, and is not apart of our Nguzo Saba African Value System: UMOJA (Unity) To strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation, and race.

It will give you an eye-opening account of my expertise, sensitivity, and straight talk. A person who reads this book will be able to learn from my past mistakes, receive knowledge that you sometimes dont learn in college, and be able to overcome and deal with your financial crises.

    Foreword

The booby traps in today’s world seem endless: crushing debt, business failure, loss of a job, insurance problems, and illness. The casualties are mounting. Some people just got caught in circumstances beyond their control. Such as yours truly.

I was the victim of a citywide conspiracy led by racist government officials who no longer wanted my predominantly black residential group home in their area. They conspired and manipulated the state of Indiana to revoke my license and close my business.

Because we still live in a society where the spirit of racism, jealousy and hatred exist, these things sometimes happen, which are out of your control.

    Introduction

What They Don’t Tell You About Money is a book that will expose and reveal many of the hidden secrets behind making money work for you? This book is not one of those books offering another get rich quick scheme, but it is a book that will share information that will require discipline, sacrifice and commitment. This book was inspired after the great financial calamity I faced. It was during that calamity that I wrote my autobiography, Naked Before God, and I mentioned in one of my chapters the need for me to teach others about money.

What They Don’t Tell You About Money is more than just instructions on how to make it, but also how to continue making money work for you. In my twenties, I had a monthly cash flow of $50,000 to $60,000 dollars. I owned my first real estate property at the age of 18 and was renting out my first unit when I was 19. I started on the path of entrepreneurship when I was eleven years old and used to push an ice cream cart around my neighborhood. I had my first paper route when I was fourteen.

I believe that the information that I am about to share will nullify discrimination, racism, and the unjust actions of people that so many of us like to blame for our money problems. Since I was not aware of how to handle money like so many before me, I too, did as the others had done. As my income increased, so did my spending and therefore my debt. I was just another high roller or big baller who was living from paycheck to paycheck. This book will be able to guide the high rollers to make that money work for him.

As African-Americans, many of us have adopted the attitude If I don’t understand it, then I won’t get involved with it. It will be my goal with this book to help change that kind of thinking. The Bible states, With all thy getting, get an understanding. With all the money that we have made as a race, as family, or as individuals, we need to get an understanding of that money. Many of us feel that wealth is only for the other races and feel that the only way for us to obtain wealth is through our natural God-given talents such as athletics, singing and other forms entertainment such as hip hop and dancing. Even in those circles some feel that there are unfair practices and discrimination working against us.

There is one institution however, that we can take advantage of that does not know about the color of one’s skin or ethnic background and that is the stock market. Anyone can buy and sell stock right from the comfort of their own home with their personal computer without anyone knowing who you are. Now, I write this not to say that one should be ashamed of who they are, but just to state another avenue that they don’t tell you about regarding money.

What They Don’t Tell You About Money will also remind us African-Americans about our value systems on the subject of money. I will share with you the way our forefathers dealt with that subject as it pertained to economics. I will explore the myth that we as a race are lazy and dependent people. I will touch on these topics so that we can develop our minds and become part of this economic success that we keep hearing so much about, and to also disavow the stereotypes of the past that may affect our future. I will touch briefly topic such as: Dow theory, mutual funds, bonds, and retirement, etc.

It is my desire in writing this book that we learn lessons or concepts from history; mistakes should be avoided, and strengths reinforced and utilized in the present and future.

The purpose of this book is not to criticize any group of people, but to analyze history and propose a reasonable solution.

Economic power should be just much of African Americans dream as it is for the whole world. I believe the principles in this book will give us a start, and a mentally to practice, teach, and share these beliefs to those around us.

This book will also cover the principle of tithing, which I feel should be apart of anyone that desire to be financially blessed.

The Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. said: "We have now arrived at the moment on our history when we can move from working, consuming, and spending to saving, investing, and building equity. We have now arrived at the moment in our history when we can finally realize Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream for all Americans.

The purpose of this book is simple. I want to show you that there is a formula to cure all of life’s financial problems. Again I reiterate if you follow the principles, you will find the answers you need.

I do not confess or even acknowledge to be a financial genius, I am only sharing the little information I have study and research and through my trials and error, I am attempting to share this with you, like in all writings I encourage that you contact a professional financial advisor prior to any major investment, this book is just a tip of the iceberg of information that is out their on this subject.

    Getting Started

Our basic expenses such as food, clothing, shelter, and taxes gobble most of our earnings up. In spite of now having more income, we still save very little. We save less than 5% of our take home pay. Drug dealers and hustlers are making money only to spend money and feel that income will always be there for them.

There are some right here in America who struggle just as bad as those in third world countries while
