The Old Marcus
Marcus Johnson was a somewhat shy but humble type of person who had gone most of his life with little respect. By November 2005, he was twenty-five with with two girlfriends who bore him two children. He married one of his babies’ mamas in May 2002.
To understand Marcus, his story begins in February 2006, as a twenty-five-year-old married man. He only has two real friends whom he could talk to like brothers. Eddie, a twenty-four-year-old brother with no kids and Anthony, also known as Ant, a twenty-five-year-old brother with one son. They had all grown up in the same hood. Marcus had real problems: a low paying job as a warehouse supervisor and a wife who cheats in the streets. Lexus, his wife, is a twenty-two-year-old mother who works full-time at the local hospital, attends the local college; she loves money and men, but is an overall good person, at times. At other times, she can be very selfish.
Marcus was at work Monday morning when his supervisor called him into his office. The company had terminated him. The reason: Marcus was too easy on his employees. On his way home, Marcus decides to call Eddie.
Yo, man, what’s up?
Nothin, Marcus, what’s good?
Man, Eddie, I just got fired!
what? Wow, Marcus, I’m sorry, but everything is going to be cool!
Man, I’m fucked up in the head over this bullshit! Lexus is going to leave with my son when I tell her.
Fuck it, man, you know she’s sleeping around. Why don’t we meet up at The Sugar Shack? Maybe some strippers will take your mind off all this bullshit!
Yo, I can’t, I got my son tonight while Lex is at school.
"Wake the fuck up, Marcus! That bitch ain’t going to school tonight! She’s
