Poetic Encyclopedia
()
About this ebook
Poetic Encyclopedia is a compilation of poems written by the author; it cuts across poetic genres, reflecting upon all (or virtually) different aspects of poetry.
This work is borne out of a need to describe different aspects of human life via the use of poems, thereby making poetry as an acceptable medium of expressing rather intricate and often difficult emotions, moods, situations, circumstances, and events.
This book also includes a poetic tribute to late Professor Akindele (former dean of the faculty of Engineering, University of Lagos, Akoka).
Poetry in itself is life.
Adeniyi Festus Adeniji
The man Adeniyi Festus Adeniji is a Houston-based Nigerian author. He started writing poems since 2001, and his poetry work has earned him both local and international acknowledgments since 2003. He was nominated by the International Society of Poets as Poet of the Year for the years 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2008 respectively. He is happily married to Mrs. Janet Abidemi Adeniji. His popular slogan is “Be unique in your own uniqueness.” That is, no matter the odds, something inside of you stands out differently from others, such which cannot be imitated.

Introduction
The Power of Poetry
Life is fun, even when we seem done. Poems bring out its beauty second to none.
Poems and the art of poetry are fundamental life means upon which we caress our innermost beings with well-articulated and creatively exciting combination of words. The audacities of expression, fearless in its carriage combined are carefully directed to tickle the hardest of our fancies. It’s an acceptable means of bearing our imaginations into realities.
Poetry as an art is beautiful in beauty and the beauty that radiates in the beautiful. It’s easily understandable and widely acceptable; it prides itself in its ability of self-delivery and beauty of expression. It is ageless, never meaningless, and extremely priceless.
Poetry gives life its meaning, it is the world we see and how we want it to be. It is the wings upon which love flies and hate dies; it’s the word in the WORLD.
Poems written in this book are categorized for easy understanding and recitation; these categories are as stipulated under the table of contents.

106984-ADEN-layout-low.pdfLife is full of adventures
Wonderful sceneries
Splendidly displayed by nature’s
Constantly processing many through its refineries
Right from creation
Man seems thrown into inundation
Even after condemnation
He constantly witnesses regeneration
As a teacher remains a teacher
Irrespective of such students’ attainment in life
Even when the duo is confronted vis-à-vis
Either in the classroom or the world’s playroom
A teacher daunts, thrusts, and pushes expecting to see nothing but the best in his product
Life is a teacher
Upon whose trail
A fervent believer
That none must fail
At sunrise, man sets out for work
At sunset, he begins yet another work
Many often perceive sleep is rest
None seem to see it is but another work
God is man’s best
In him there is abundance of rest
Because no matter what one in life may be
Man is nothing but as GOD made be.
The Puppet in the Hands of His Master
In the beginning was the WORD
Undeniably it created the world
As a string strung in a chord
This without a doubt was given unto us by GOD
In life, Man GOD created in HIS image
The Garden of Eden, his first home was not a cage
Man’s dominating role, many soon thrown into a rage
Inevitably to disobedience he fell and was checked out with his luggage
Man connotatively is the puppet
GOD undisputedly HIS maker; symbolically man’s best bet
Consequent upon condemnation, down Man HE never let
As a puppet in the hands of his master, his role GOD didn’t sublet
In all things GOD is Man’s best
