EPILOGUE
For this work, 100% of the credit goes to GOD and his
wonderful son Jesus Christ and 0% to me.
Thank you Heavenly Father.
Thank you mother (Mildred L. Jones),
wife (Katherine D. Jones), and son (Aikeen M. Jones).
They have provided me with guidance and
inspiration the English Language could never adequately
describe. Last but not least, I joyfully thank
GOD Almighty for my earthly father.
A special thanks to my editor, who is also my
GOD given companion and wife, Katherine Darlene Jones.
May GOD bless every man as he has so richly
blessed me, i.e., with a wife who is Christlike
in speech, conduct, and silence.
PREFACE
A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
Proverbs 10:1
On February 2, 1962, we were blessed with our first son, Perfect
on completion of doctor’s exam. I decided to name him Rickey Nelson Jones. The third of my four children, The First Male.
We were very excited to be blessed with him. He was Christianed
by Adlecha Gallagher and George Moore. He was baptized by the late Rev. G. R. Washington, Sr., pastor of the Guiding Light Missionary Baptist Church. At an early age, he was a junior usher. He later became a junior deacon. He would take care of his duties like an older steward. As a small child, he was always helpful and very humble. In school, he would always help the teachers and his class mates. As a young boy, I was told by an elderly female neighbor that he would become a preacher or an attorney (GOD blessed him to be both). She stated that she had been observing my children, and there was something about him that made her know he would become a leader.
As a young child and adult, I would go to him for his opinion on different things. He was always there when I needed him. He helped with the house and the chores. He helped his brother and sisters with their homework. He was always willing to help others. He worked on and off campus during his college years and shared his earnings. He was the kind of son every parent would be proud of.
He graduated from high school (McDonogh #35) in New Orleans in 1981. He continued his education at Loyola University in New Orleans. I met some of his instructors. Everyone had something good to say about him. I was so proud.
After completing his studies at Loyola University, he decided to attend Howard University School of Law (in Washington D.C.) after praying. He told me one morning that he had seen Howard University in a dream, and that is where he wanted to go for his law degree. I was shocked he was going to leave home, but he always prayed before making a decision. I knew God was leading him and would take care of him. Praise the Lord he did and still does!
The smiles, laughs, memories, and pride he has brought to me are priceless. He is one of the most important things in the world to me, and no one could ever love a son and believe in him more deeply than I do mine.
Love forever,
The Discipliner, Spiritual Guide & Mother of the Author, Ms. Mildred L. Jones
INTRODUCTION
What Should I do, Heavenly Father?
In answer to his disciples’ inquiry about the end of the world, Jesus answered in Matthew 24:12, And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
In light of the un-Godly state of society both yesterday and today, such a declaration seems old.
The neighborhood, state, country, and church seem corrupt.
Oh, how I long for the wonderful return of my Jesus and our marvelous departure up.
I looked, looked, and looked for a man living holy.
What a shock to me upon discovering that even in church such was not to be found due to man’s inclination for the lowly.
I know what to do. I will just live holy, continuously.
To my surprise, I was criticized and hated because I dare to live Godly.
In disgust, I consulted my Heavenly Father.
HE reminded me of how Jesus was treated, our propitiation and eternal, genuine, lover.
I now see that GOD wants holiness from me as a guide to mankind.
Don’t be bothered by the negative reaction from man. GOD sees and is pleased and that is what counts throughout time!
CHAPTER 1
Man’s Mistakes / Satan’s Triumphs
"One day I was driving down the road, angry with my wife about something. As I thought about this thing, GOD placed heavily in my spirit that ‘I was the problem, not my wife!’ When I reflected on that, it became crystal clear to me that 100% of the problems in my house were because of me, no one else."
(1) The Absent Godly Father
The absent father fails to fulfill his God-sanctioned duties to his children. Those duties are as follows: (a) Ephesians 6:4 [provoke not to wrath & bring up in nurture and admonition of the Lord], (b) Proverbs 29:17 [correct thy son], (c) Proverbs 23:13, 14 [withhold not correction, beat with rod for he shall not die and his soul shall be delivered from hell], (d) Proverbs 13:24 [he that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes], and (e) Proverbs 22:6 [train up child in way he should go]. These duties are the father’s primarily because of the special attention children give to their fathers. Proverbs 17:6 [glory of children are their fathers] removes all doubts about the child’s focus when his father speaks. This lends understanding to the problem of the female single-parent household. The problem lies not in the fact that she is a single parent but in the fact that GOD’S perfect plan installs the father as the principal guide for the child. Even the acknowledgment of the sensational, Godly, mother cannot negate the central role GOD has given to the father. The father’s guidance is, and will always be, principal in a child’s life because GOD established it so. Therefore, a father’s pre-eminence in a child’s development remains an undebatable, indisputable, unquestionable fact.
Deprivations a child suffers from an absent Godly father highlight how catastrophic the absence is. Those deprivations are best demonstrated with the following questions: (1) Where were you, father, when your son was being removed from your wife’s (or mate’s) womb, looking around for a loving, comforting, fathering
voice in his new world? (2) Where were you, father, when your son screamed out, at the top of his lungs, in the middle of the night because of nightmares, needing a father’s reassuring hug and a father’s prayer? (3) How could you be absent, father, when your son froze out of fright on the first day of school, needing his father to smile at him as he looked back? (4) Where were you, father, when your son struggled with homework, needing his father to tell him, Don’t worry buddy; we will master it, whatever it is.
(5) Where were you, father, when your son needed to know how to defend himself when accosted at school? (6) How could you not be there, father, when your son needed to know that he is special to God and no one should be touching him inappropriately or degrading him? (7) Where were you, father, when your son asked about what constitutes the proper relationship between human beings, i.e., the God-sanctioned man/woman relationship [NOT something else]? (8) Where were you, father, when your son asked about the use, reason, function, and purpose of his penis? (9) Were you absent, father, when your son was terrified to ride his two-wheeled bicycle and needed his father to run along side of him saying, You can do it buddy; you can do it!
(10) Where were you, father, when your child repeatedly asked questions about his private parts? (11) How
