I dedicate this book to my mom, Rae Lynn Beeson. She was a beautiful woman. She loved to live life. My mom always supported me. I remember her telling me to be happy and that she was proud of me. Today I am happy and proud that she was my mom. I will live life to its fullest and keep on writing.

    Proud Son,

First I want to thank God. Without God in my life, none of this would be possible. I give my heart and my thanks to my wife, Suni and my kids, Shane, Mason and Chayse. They put up with me every day. I want to give a big thanks to my dear family and friends. Everyone’s financial help and time was deeply appreciated. The Xlibris group did a great job on my book. Thank you for all your help. I talked about writing this book for many years. I am very thankful for the people that God has put in my life. I can’t wait for my second book, like I promised.

    Introduction

First, let me tell you I have never written a book before, but I have a story to tell. So I promise you that if you give it time and hang in with me, when you are done you will say, Damn.

My name is Keith, Keith Golden. I live in Las Vegas. Some people call it the City of Sin. I call it home. I was born and raised here. All I can say about Vegas is wow. First, let’s put emotions aside because I am sure you are not going to like me at times, but tell me at the end.

It’s 1988. I am sixteen years old. I live on the eastside by the hill. At this time, I attend Sunrise High School. The reason I say this is because I get around, I run a very active business: gangs, guns, and drugs. I have been shipped from school to school, and I have put every ass kicking I received to good use. Not one bloody nose, wasn’t for a good reason.

Speaking about the face, let me tell you a little about me. Well, I have blonde hair and blue eyes. I carry a noticeable smile. I stand 5'10" at 180 pounds. I stay in shape, well, I have to. Survival is no one’s responsibility but mine. I mean a magician doesn’t get into a box he can’t get out of. I never put much thought about what I was getting into. I jumped with both feet into everything. I laugh now because I’ve seen the future and lived the past. Everyone wants to be someone, or to be a part of something. Well, I was involved with something; let’s just say I was having the best time a kid could have without getting himself killed. You think this is easy, trust me it’s not.

    Chapter 1

    The Beginning

I raised my hand to ask my teacher if I can leave the class early to use the bathroom. It’s fourth period, right before lunch. I take a business class. Here I learn about what they call the real world. Sure, what am I living in now? She let me go this time. Hey, I don’t blame her. Ms. Manders is acting on what she hears, and she hears a lot! Things happen around me, but I am not to blame for everything. Sunrise High is a school that holds every kind of student. The gangs here at this school are Crips, Bloods, Latin, Asian, and your mix of white gangs. Sad to say, I can and will tell you more.

Ms. Manders’s class is in the middle of the school. I went to my locker and dropped my books off. You can’t miss it. Everyone has written on all over it. The joy of free will! I was never weary of the bathroom until today. I just stepped into the bathroom when someone grabbed me and threw me to the floor. I was on my back looking at a black man who had a very large gun stuffed in my mouth. All he said was You are dead. Then he got up off me and left. I sat up and leaned against the wall. That is when I started to think about what was happening.

Some people use cold water and coffee to wake them up. In this case it was a large gun shoved down my throat to get my adrenaline flowing. In the middle of this craziness, there I was, shocked. But I wasn’t as scared as I should have been. Now that I think about it, I should have taken the advice of that kind gentleman and played dead.

Instead of running into the fire with my eyes closed, after some daydreaming I took a quick look in the mirror, then I strolled out of the bathroom into the now very crowded hallways. I bumped into my sister Beth, who was in the ninth grade. I will let you know the lowdown on her later. She asked me, What’s wrong? I said, with a smile, Business class. The last thing you want to tell her is that some guy made you eat his .45 in the bathroom.

I managed to make my way to my car without seeing anyone else, which, in my life, is hard to do. There is always someone trying to see if I’m as tough as they say. Don’t get me wrong. I lost a lot of battles in the process. I used to have a parking spot in the back of the lot. Seniors got the closest spots and put their names
