Connected is about a near-death experience I had in 1960, following a ruptured appendix. At the end of this wonderful experience, I didnt wish to come back inside my body. An angel beside me told me, You have to go back, Peter. Its not your time, and you have many important things to do. In the following thirteen years, I saved or helped to save six peoples lives, and over time, helped out many other people. Although these many other people were not in life-or-death struggles, they nonetheless were in dire situations and needed help supplied by me and the Lord.

A NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE (NDE)

YOU MUST GO BACK PETER. ITS NOT YOUR TIME AND YOU HAVE MANY IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO!

This is a story about a near death experience, that I was fortunate to have had and lived through. I will refer to it from time to time as an NDE for short. This wonderful NDE that I experienced, happened a long time ago, way back on September 21st, of 1960, to be exact

At the time, I was just twenty years old.

Back in those days, hardly anyone at all knew much about the phenomenon called a near death experience! In fact, I myself had never heard of it even being mentioned, let alone talked about, until it occured to me!

Today many of us have either known or heard of someone, maybe a friend, a relative, or quite possibly ones own self, who through a tragic accident or because of a critical illness, has experienced an NDE.

From time to time It also has been referred to, as an out of body experience, which of course it truly is!

These human souls have exited their body and have moved on from this world, to what most, if not all, believe to be a wonderland called Heaven.

It was definitely Heaven for me anyways, without any doubt whatsoever!

Those departed souls have then come back, all excited to tell the rest of us about this exciting journey they have just taken, along with the glorius place they have just seen!

The majority of these returned souls, including my own, did not want to go back into their earthly bodies, when their NDE was coming to its close!

Most IMPORTANT, this book is also about saving six people’s lives.

For one reason or another those six saved souls were all in some kind of imminent peril!

I believe the six people, I helped to save, were all preordained for me to save, by my special Angel who accompanied me from Heaven, back to earth!

It’s also about being in the right spot, at the right time to be able to help other people out in their time of needed assistance too!

To be sure, I had a lot of help from the Lord and/or the Angel in all of the life saving rescues, that I was Connected with!

I’m positive, they were also catalysts in the life helping situations too!

But what IF? What IF I had perished from the ruptured appendix, which, at the time, was a definite possibility?

Was there anyone else around to take my place? That answer I will leave up to you after you have read this book!

Speaking for me though, I would have to say a RESOUNDING NO!

WHY?

Because, It ALWAYS seemed like I was the only person in the general area that was able to HEAR or OBSERVE a bad situation that was already in the works, or a happening that was in the process of becoming one!

It also seemed like I was the ONLY ONE, that had the grit and/or determination to get directly INVOLVED with whatever feat of courage was needed at the time to overcome the problem at hand!

There have been many books written on the subject of near death experiences, along with a great many television documentaries.

And now, even a full length movie, Heaven is For Real has been made frrom a recent book of the same name, about it!

Colton Burpo, the little boy in the Heaven is For Real NDE, suffered with the exact same, serious illness that befell me, namely a ruptured appendix with abscess. A very serious and unpleasent illness to go through for sure!

Just like Colton, I also am here to let everyone know, that most definitely, there is a special place called Heaven.

I know for certain, because my soul took an amazing trip there to visit this beautiful and wonderful place!

I’m going to prove it too! How, you ask? Very simple!

By witnessing my experiences in all of the IMPORTANT situations that happened to me in the months and years that followed my NDE. All these things occured just as the Angel STATED they would, in so many words! You might say some of those things were purely a coincidence. Yeah, maybe, but you can’t go there alone, because there were just too many coincidences! Way to many!

As you get into the story you’ll come to see just how much everything in my life seemed to CONNECT with everyone else and everything else.

They say that life is sometimes stranger than fiction. This book, as you will soon learn, is living proof of that statement!

I’m just going to give you the facts of all the wonderful things that happened and how everything played out, to the best of my recollection.

I’ll leave it up to you to decide.

Remember, the proof is in the pudding, or so they say!

The book starts out with the Connections we all seem to have with each other plus other things, and how we are all affected by and also through these Connections!

Next will come WHY questions that we all seem to have from time to time, concerning all sorts of things with us. This is especially true of me with everything that went down following my severe illness! This will be followed by much of my formative years leading up to the Illness.

The severe Illness itself comes next!

My soul’s escape from my body follows, with four Angels, helping to take me on a mystical journey to Heaven.

My soul eventually returns from Paridise with a single Angel by my side at the top of the ceiling in my hospital room.

This special Angel had a short but all powerful statement for me.

A STATEMENT that over time would prove to be so truly prophetic, time after time after time! And that strong message was:

YOU MUST GO BACK PETER, ITS NOT YOUR TIME AND YOU HAVE MANY IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO!

A pretty strong charge, from such a short statement, don’t you think?

Following my return from Paradise, will come a jaw dropping office visit with Dr. James Kelly - Part 11, with his two astounding medical revelations, concerning me. Both of these amazing incidents, were also somehow Connected with him. Was I ever astonished when I walked out of his office that day!

Finally, starting with the blizzard at midnight will come much more detail of all the life saving rescues, along with the life altering help, I was able to provide and be involved with, through the months and years that followed my critical illness! Thanks to the Lord, along with the help of the Angel, all of this was possible because I survived the deplorable condition I was in!

According to medical science, when a person is in a coma, all brain waves cease to function. So it would be theoretically impossible to have any kind of a dream, let alone a near death experience while in this state of being! Theoretically, that is!

There was a book out recently, Proof of Heaven, by a noted Neurosurgeon, Dr. Eban Alexander, who at one time was himself a big skeptic on the subject of an NDE. He of all people experienced an NDE, and what was most unexplainable, while he himself was in a coma. Incredible to say the least! Needless to say, he is no longer a doubter on this blessed subject!

One person who (A future Dentist) I inadvertently assisted, happened TWO MONTHS BEFORE my near death experience even took place.

Looking back on this SPECIAL situation, I think this was a preparatory drill for me by the Angel of all the many important things to come! This one turned out to be One Heavenly Connection!…………………

Another person, who with the Lords help I was able to extract (My Friend Charlie) from a huge jam, happened three days before my 74th birthday on May 20 of this year, TWO FULL MONTHS after I started writing this book.

You can’t make this stuff up!

All of the IMPORTANT THINGS that occured after my recovery, happened just as the Angels admonition to me, was stated, in so many (thoughts) words!

Always Remember, Just How Connected We All Are!………………………..

WE’RE ALL CONNECTED SOMEHOW

I chose to call this book CONNECTED, because in one way or another, thats what we all are! If you peel the onion back, far enough in time, aren’t we all somehow related. The old saying, what goes round comes back round, would seem to fit, good, bad or otherwise! Or maybe life is just one big merry-go-round. We get on, we get off. People come and people go, but still we are all so intertwined with each other. What we choose to do or choose not to do, can and does send ripples through the lives of the rest of us, in one way or another.

Connections in out lives have a way of being everywhere!

At least in my lifetime, they have appeared far more often then not!

If you stop and think about it, probably in your lifetime too!

I would venture, way more than any of us ever realize!

Remember the old Christmas movie, It’s a Wonderful Life starring Jimmy Stewart, who played George Bailey. George was a real good guy to one and all. He sacrificed everything he desired for himself, just to be able to help out his little New England town, along with all the people in it.

When Uncle Billy misplaced a large sum of money, George and the Bailey Savings and Loan, were in a big quandary. When things started going bad and everything seemed to be falling apart, George wished he had never been born!

His guardian Angel, who had just jumped into a roaring river to save his life, granted him his wish. Everything that once was good about this little town, was now bad and getting worse by the day. His wife was an old maid librarian and his children of course, had never been born, and all because George had never born!

Pandemonium was rampant and sadness was every where in the little town! All the people’s lives that once were so Connected with George and what he did for them, were so much different now, and once again, all because George had never been born!

When George saw all the misery everyone was suffering, simply because he had never been born, he told his Angel he wished to be born again so everything could go back to being good, just like it was before.

An Angel/Reborn Connection……………………….

What if I had perished back in 1960 from the ruptured appendix, which at the time was a genuine possibility. My four children and six grandchildren would never have been born.

Who would have been there to rescue those six people, all of which, were on the brink of disaster.

With the Lord’s help, I was quite fortunate to somehow have been able to save those six souls from oblivion!

But if I had died, then what?

Who would have been there to help three complete strangers get food that they desperately needed?

Who would have even bothered?

Who would have been there to give Shorty a much needed respite at the station? Who would have even cared?

Who would have been there to give some transportation to a grandmother and her sick grandson? Once again, who would have bothered?

Who would have been there to change the ladies flat tire, the day I married?

Eventually, someone would have come along! Probably! Eventually!

As you’ll soon learn, the six peoples lives, that for various reasons, were in imminent danger, were all somehow CONNECTED with my own!

One way or another, I knew them all ! They were either neighbors or co-workers and one was a next door acquaintance! The first saved person was a teen age daughter of a railroad engineer, who I worked with and knew well.

By the way, not all people who are critically ill or tragically injured go through this wonderful phenomenon, which I experienced!

I guess you might say I was one of the lucky ones it happened to.

In my case, all things considered, I believe I was singled out for my grit, perseverance, and dogged determinationt to not ever give in or give up, no matter what!

As you’ll discover in the following chapters, I was up to my eyeball’s in either helping to save a life or drastically coming to the aid of a fellow human being, who needed some kind of earthly assistance at that MOMENT!

Pulling through my terrible illness, along with my NDE was the only piece of good luck I would have for the entire year of 1960.

In fact, it was the worst year of my life, before or since, in a multitude of a great many ways.

First and formost, in March my long time girl friend and I broke up and I never got over it, up to and including my illness, seven months later.

To make matters worse, the breakup was pretty much all my fault.

When I finally woke up and came to my sense’s, that ship had already sailed!

At the time, she was the most precious person in the world, with a cute little dimple in the center of her chin! She was a little stubborn, but who in this life isn’t. To be perfectly clear, I myself, could probably lead that parade! Later, when it came to the five life saving situations I would be confronted with, thank God I WAS STUBBORN and would not be deterred in the slightest, from the mission at hand! In those important situations, I would require all the stubborness I could possibly muster and then some!

Well, guess who was one of the X-ray Technician’s at the hospital, when I became ill? if you said my old girl friend, you get an A+. I really didn’t want her to see me in such a bad condition as this, but of course it couldn’t be helped! I still loved her and didn’t want her pitty.

Thats probably the main reason why I didn’t go down to the hospital the day before to get throughly checked out.Stupid pride is never a good thing! The old saying; pride goes before the fall would certainly apply to me here!

One Sad Connection Here!…………………………………

In late August, my grandmother Ward and I had a fire in the apartment we shared, on Seneca St. We lost everything we owned except the clothes on our backs. If it couldn’t get any worse, it just did. Our homeowner’s insurance renewal policy, had somehow gotten misplaced and had now lapsed.

In just three short weeks away, I would be in the hospital, fighting for my life with a ruptured appendix, plus many other serious complications, including abscess and double pneumonia.

Doesn’t sound too good, does it. Just wait, It gets WORSE! Much WORSE!

While in the hospital, a fellow employee and classmate of mine, Jerry Secondo came back from the Army and bumped me off my clerk’s job with the Erie Railroad. He would later marry my operating
