MENTOR INSINCERE You know we are going to have to pick a name for this beautiful baby girl. We cant just keep calling her Baby. Albert said, OK, Ill look in the telephone book and pick out one. After about five minutes, Trudy breaks the silence. Lets call her Amanda, Albert. Amanda Jane. Albert adds. Amanda Jane. Trudy repeats. They both look back toward their daughter, the taste of her name on the tip of their tongues Amanda and Albert, I am sorry, I am so very sorry, I hurt you both very deep. THE MARRIAGE

Trudy Ann Mario and Albert Floyd Kilpatrick have known each other since the sixth grade in elementary school. Trudy Ann’s father was a preacher in a local church. Trudy’s mother sang in the choir. The church building was an old wood frame building with a wood clap board siding. The front door to the church was about four feet above ground. There was a set of wooden steps going from ground level up to a little foyer in front of the front door. The step sides were boxed in along with the area underneath the foyer. There was an unlocked wooden door underneath the foyer. One day Young Albert found an old discarded mattress in the junk heap. He took the mattress and placed it in the area underneath the church steps. Trudy was not much interested in her father’s sermons and Albert didn’t care for the church hymns The two would wait until the choir was in full swing and they would slip into the steps cubby hole.

At first they would just hug and kiss each other. But as time went on they began to touch each other in forbidden places. Albert was 14 years old and Trudy was only 13. One day Trudy’s mother became concerned that Trudy was not in church. She quietly walked down the aisle after the choir had finished their singing and opened the front door. She could hear something underneath the steps. She quietly opened the wooden door under the steps. There was both Trudy and Albert lying on the mattress naked.

Well mother had a few words to say that shouldn’t be said on Sunday especially on church property. You can bet that Trudy and Albert’s activities were closely monitored from that time forward.

Albert and Trudy still saw each other and kissed when no one was looking.

Albert never had another girl friend besides Trudy. Trudy was a virgin up until the time she married Albert. Trudy and Albert would look at pictures in the living room under the watchful eye of her mother. They would talk about some day taking a trip to Hawaii. When Trudy turned 18 and Albert was already 19. Trudy’s father said, Why don’t you guys get married in Hawaii? Albert said, it’s simple dad, money. Trudy’s Father said, What you need money for? Albert said, Airplane tickets. I can’t swim that far. Trudy’s father said, What’s that laying there on the end table? Albert picked it up and it was an envelope with two round trip airplane tickets to Hawaii. The next day Trudy and Albert went and got their license to marry. Two days later they were on their way to Hawaii. Trudy and Albert were married on a cruise ship in the middle of Pearl Harbor Hawaii.
