    Chapter 1

W hen Mya Brown was in her early teens, all she ever thought about was becoming a woman. She just couldn’t wait to fall in love with that cute guy and live happily ever after. It was like she was never warned. Play them before you let them play you is what her brother told her before he left for college, None of them are any good. were Kyle’s last words. Mya also had supportive parents who had hopes of her prosperous future. But Mya, she had plans of her own, she would do just the opposite.

See what Mya wanted and what her parents wanted for her was the same, but she didn’t want to go about it the way they wanted her to. She wanted a somewhat easy life. A man she could fall in love with has children with and lives in a nice house with a picket fence. She had no idea that—that was just a fairy tale. No relationship was a fairy tale. No one could have a house and children without first setting some real goals and work hard for it.

Mya was a sort of outgoing girl in her teens: she had it all, beauty, family, funny and always lived for the moment. She enjoyed adventures and she loved looking at cute guys. She couldn’t resist a cute guy for nothing in the world. Always thinking that it wouldn’t hurt if she maybe smiled at a cute guy in a way that he knows she’s digging him. Besides, her brother had scooped her on how to play a brother anyway. She wasn’t s afraid of a challenge.

Mya was a freshman when she had her first real boyfriend, the kind that mom and dad let come over and watch television. His name was Harvey, a tall light skinned guy who seemed very intelligent. Harvey was on the football team at his school, and was voted the most handsome guy in his class. Harvey had won Mya’s parent’s heart. He was always on time when he arrived and always bringing some sort of gift. Sometimes he could even take Mya to his own town, which was 25 miles away, and Mya’s parents trusted him solely.

    One rainy night Harvey’s car wouldn’t start….

Mrs. Brown my car won’t start and I’d like to use your phone to call someone to pick me up?’ OK Harvey it’s alright with me, but if you can’t get a way this time of night in this weather, then you can sleep in Kyle’s room in the back said Mrs. Brown. Here’s my chance to make love to Harvey thought Mya. He can’t resist me, and I know this will bring us closer."

Deep in the other room, Mya was thinking of ways she could get in that room and cuddle under Harvey even though she knew it was wrong. Mya snuck in anyways and woke Harvey up. What you doin girl? asked Harvey. Well I just thought you were thinking about me she said. No Mya get out of here, before your momma kills me! He shouted softly.

That was a big turnoff for Mya It seems as though he like my parents more than me. Mya wanted someone who wasn’t afraid of her parents: everyone in Belleview was scared of her mother. Mrs. Brown was not anyone to play with. She believed in being straightforward and dared anyone to cross the line. Most people thought Mrs. Brown packed a 45 handgun in her purse and was just waiting on a reason to use it. So most guys knew it was hands off when it came to Mya Brown. Mya kept Harvey, because he didn’t go to her school and he would keep her parents from wondering what she was really doing. Besides he was fine, there wasn’t anyone at Belleview High who looked better. I’ll just keep him until I find someone else Mya said. With his scary ass.

Part of Mya’s problem was Belleview High. There weren’t any attractive young men around. The town’s population was maybe 7,000 and all the young men had a girlfriend or two, seemed more like three. Like there was a shortage of some kind. Mya liked to show that she could find something every girl wanted. A handsome man. Most women at Belleview settled for whatever they could get and to Mya—they weren’t getting much. Almost every man in Belleview had another woman on the side not to mention-none of them had jobs. Just laying around doing nothing and girls were just fighting over them daily. Mya wanted a man that no one had and that belong only to her. If he didn’t than she would settle on the fact that he had something else to bring to the table.

Like her brother said before, play them before they play you! Get them before they get you because none of them are any good, so you might as well play them all and break those pockets off. Cause they definitely going to try to break up in your pants. Said Kyle the truest player she knew. Her brother Kyle was for years older than Mya. He had a lot going for himself. He was athletic, woman loved him and he was going to college on a football scholarship. He once had six different girlfriends—at least that’s how many Mya counted. Kyle got money, clothes jewelry, etc… from them. He was spoiled by the woman that he didn’t have to work much during the summer. Mya would even receive gifts for being his sister. I definitely can’t let him down. He’d never forgive me she thought.

From that day on Mya tried to live by Kyle’s words. She did exactly as he explained. She would only go out with the guys from high school for a short time. She used them to show them off at a school dance or school function and that was it. She didn’t want to get too close them and let them into her mind, period. Besides, none of them were good enough.

Since Kyle had left for college, all of his friends except one tried to be a big brother figure. Carter Davis. Carter was 21 years old, had a good job within an established company and he sold drugs. Women went crazy over him. He also had fast cars and nice houses. Although Carter always thought Mya was pretty he knew Kyle would go crazy with even
