Conclusion
I
dedicate this book first to God Almighty, who chose to use me to share these ideas to his children on earth, in order for us to live a fulfilled life.
I dedicate this book to my mother and father for the values they instilled in us while growing up. They taught us to love indiscriminately because even though we are different biologically, we are all children of the only one true God, the Most High. My parents taught us to help the poor, console the sorrowful, and put an end to all quarrels, just as God expects of us.
I also dedicate this book to my siblings, who all took turns to mold me to who I am today. Especially to my late brother-in-law, Mr. Charles Fon Ndikum, and my late sister, Mrs. Mary Olga Ngum Ndikum, who took me under their care when I was a little boy till I graduated from nursing school. They taught me how to share indiscriminately and that all parents are parents to all children, especially those identified as being without their parents.
Also to my nephews and nieces who continue to make me feel so comfortable when I am with them and helping me maintain my youth and giving me a reason to want to live longer.
This book is also dedicated to Ms. Jill Marie, who edited my book and made it to read the way it does now, where it actually makes sense.
The spiritual leaders that I have had growing up are also to be credited for this book. They taught me the basic requirements of God on how to live, which I apply in my life today. Special thanks go to Father George, who took the time to proofread my book and share his opinions with me.
Last but not least, I wish to dedicate the book to my wife, Helen Neh Fusi, and my kids, who continue to give me a reason to feel special and believe in myself and my dreams.
Preface
Growing up as a little boy, I have always wanted to stand in front of millions of people just to share my ideas and thoughts.
Somewhere around 2004–2005, I was going through a very trying time of my life. The storm was coming down very hard on me; I had second thoughts about life. I wondered if it was really worth living. I thought that because I was living a life of helping people in need—doing the right things—life would be very easy.
One day at about 2:00 a.m., while I was sleeping, I was awoken by a rattling noise. As soon as I woke up, I heard this voice that said, Go and get a pen and paper.
I scribbled eight pages of information on homelessness, orphans, etc. The next day, I started typing the information. On day number 3, I was given the title How Far Is One Second Ahead?
Introduction
I am the last of six children—four boys and two girls. We were brought up in a Catholic church, where praying the rosary was a must. It was a pride at the age of six or seven to get up at 4:00 a.m., to be first to make it to church, and be the altar servant for that mass before going to school at 7:00 a.m. Mondays through Fridays. On Saturdays, we would spend almost all day cleaning the church and on Sundays, put on our best clothes to go to church, hoping to be picked up again to be altar boys. It was a prestigious thing to serve at mass on Sundays. Our parents would be very happy, hoping that one of us would one day be a priest. Oh, by the way, did I mention that at
