Edmund Emil Kemper III was born on December 18, 1948, in Burbank, California. As the only son, he was the middle child of three children. His two sisters were Susan Hughey Kemper (1943-2014) and Allyn Lee Kemper (1951).

His father was Edmund Emil Kemper Jr. (1919-1985). A World War
