About this ebook

History Hub presents a brief biography of Alexander Hamilton from beginning to end, whose remarkable story impacts our lives even today.

Alexander Hamilton, a destined strategic warrior who later became one of America's greatest statesmen, was born in Nevis's low-income family on the 11th of January 1755 in Charlestown. His early life from humble beginnings didn't hinder him from becoming George Washington's right-hand man and, later on, one of the United States of America's founding fathers. Not only through the federal financial system, but through the brilliance of the hit Broadway musical Hamilton of Lin-Manuel Miranda, Alexander Hamilton's legacy has continued. In his career and afterward, society misrepresented much of what he did and felt.  But he was a genius in his work.  The government could have ended in the Civil War without his creative mind and strategies. In reality, the United States will not be what it is if it's not for Alexander Hamilton.

Discover in this short yet concise biography the remarkable story of a life who impacted future generations. This book also contains 30 questions for an in-depth discussion into the life of Alexander Hamilton.

Chapter One: A Life from Beginning to End

    Birth and Early Childhood

    Did You Know?

Hamilton was known to be born on the 11th of January; what's leery is the exact year. He openly told people that he was born in 1757, even though the official Nevisian records listed his birthday in 1755. His college application may have something to do with the discrepancy, as he was obliged to correct his real age and shed a couple of years while applying for Princeton.

There is a deeper reason why he lied about his age, which stems from his father's abandonment of him, his brother, and his mother shortly after she conceived him. The abandoned family was left in poverty while living in Saint Croix, and at the age of 13, Hamilton's mother died. He needed to make ends meet and support himself, so he sought an apprenticeship. He thought that if he would lie about his age to make himself two years younger, he would be a more desirable apprentice. Fortunately,
