About this ebook

Fear, Love, and Longing is a collection of stories exploring the ways people interact and communicate their emotions. From brothers-and-sisters to young lovers, and even a girl and her pet wendigo all traverse the murky waters of human interactions.

"A Reputation for Being a Handful" is a lighthearted look at how a jokester jock and a high-strung co-ed brainiac survive a ride on an aged Ferris wheel together. While one sees a fun ride on something unique and interesting, the other only sees cause of concern and fear.

In "Family Treasure" a brother and sister decide what to do with a famous stolen painting discovered in their deceased grandfather's attic.

"Brotherly Love" explores the dark reality of a young Angelica and her brother, Devin, who is a child psychopath. While in an extended car ride while on a family vacation, Angelica must make a choice to appease her ruthless brother and save her family from his dark curiosity.

"Partners" is a fantasy story which follows a young girl, Kimi and her pet wendigo, Meged, as they stop at a town to buy supplies. The store owner has a healthy fear of wendigos, as any sane person would, refuses to do business with them.

"Young Hearts" is the story of a young man's teenage crush. Milo lives in a remote town with a tradition of paying respects evert year to an unexploded bomb left over from the war, but this odd tradition may just be the vehicle he needs to finally talk to his long-time crush, Bethany. At least that's the plan.

While the floor, seats, and frame of the Ferris wheel compartment were all metal, the walls were made of ancient wood. Maya sat on the edge of her bench, back straight. The breeze blew through the open-air car and did little to ease her anxiety. The compartment creaked. Maya eyed the roof above her.

You don’t look very comfortable, Ryan said.

Her voice trembled. I’m fine. Thank you.

The whole wheel stuttered to a halt.

Maya let out a cry of surprise but snapped her mouth shut. She took a deep breath.

The compartment groaned its complaints while it swung in the wind.

You’re clearly not fine. Relax, we aren’t going to die.

    She stared at the floor.

Hey, it’s ok. Look at me. See? Perfectly sturdy. He stomped on the floor with one foot.
