Badass Women LIVE By Their Own Rules - Sissy Barr
Twelve badass women have graciously shared their personal journeys in hopes of encouraging women to embrace personal freedom. The usual tweaks aside, editing, grammar, punctuation, typos, and of course, the removal of personal identifying information for privacy reasons, each woman's personal journey remains in its original form.

Preface
––––––––
She seems to be everywhere these days. On the go, exuding confidence, unapologetic for the woman she has become. Thoughts filled with anticipation as she charters new destinations, plans new adventures, absolutely living her best life.
And, even though she's undoubtedly the most misunderstood women on the planet, she is happy... with her choice, her life, and herself.
Despite the animosity she faces, believe me, she faces plenty, she continues on. Always moving forward, embracing each moment as it comes, accepting every challenge as it presents itself.
Don't get it twisted, she is aware of the consequences of her choice. Her very presence promotes negative emotions, and she knows it. But then, silent disapproval and verbal abuse are not unfamiliar to women like her.
She will be ignored, denied the most basic of social graces. Smiles will not be flashed in her direction, and eye contact will be avoided at all costs. Even so, she will meet apprehension and scorn, with grace and indifference.
Life is precious to her now, and she will not waste it defending her choice against someone else's traditional, unfounded, irrational bullshit. Unfortunately for them, without even knowing it, by judging her so quickly they are allowing a unique opportunity to pass them by.
Opportunity?
Yes, opportunity. The rare chance to interact with one of the most loyal, self-empowered, independent, supportive women they will ever refuse to meet.
And that's not fair to them... or her.
~ ~ ~
Before I introduce myself, allow me to assure you I am not here for anything more than to take this opportunity to pull back the veil and reveal the truth.
I do not claim to have the answer, the key, or a mythical, methodical tool which will lead you to a treasure chest of self-awareness. However, I firmly believe that between these pages you may become inspired, perhaps even highly motivated, to acknowledge your own truth.
Personally, I say enough of the repetitive, mind-numbing verbiage being tossed around in books like cheap garden salad at the local buffet. For what it's worth, in my opinion, the majority of these books are merely repackaged, re-branded words used to tell you, not show you, methods which rarely work in the real world.
So, with much respect for you and your inner-woman, please know, this is not one of those books. And that's all I have to say about that.
Welcome!
Call me Sissy, it's a pleasure to meet you. By now, you're probably wondering something along the lines of...
Who the hell does she think she is?
Fair enough! I certainly wasted more than a few brain cells trying to figure that one out myself, back in the day.
So, as a way of introduction, and so you'll see I'm not pretending to be an expert, a guru, or attempting to create followers easily blinded by bullshit, I'll take just one quick moment to give you a little insight into the life and times of Sissy Barr. No worries though, I'll keep it very short.
Why?
Because this book isn't about me.
Below, you will find a micro-glimpse of what helped shape me into who I am, while still on my way to who I am yet to become. A few of my personal building blocks, so to speak. Brace yourself, you may be surprised to find I'm no different than you.
So, in a nutshell...
I am...
Not a psychologist, but I am a bartender
Not a teacher, but I am a parent
Not a counselor, though many seek my advice
Not a veterinarian, but I do rescue horses
Not a cop, but I have dispatched the authorities
Not a dealer, but I did work in a liquor store
Not a 1%'er, but I am of the biker community
Not a CEO, but I owned my own business
Not a clown, but I work a Renaissance Festival
Not a deceiver, but I do write fiction (not this book!)
Not a famous lyricist, but I have written songs
Not an artist, but I am an unknown poet
Not a comedian, but I have a sense of humor
Not a soldier, but I've worked for our veterans
Not nearly finished, but enough about me
And there you have it, a few precious grains from my personal hourglass of life. Each experience indicative of a particular path I chose at some earlier point. Each morphing me from who I was, into who I would eventually become until I reached my next crossroad. The person I am today, is not who I will ultimately be. For the present, I am happy to be who I am, and I can honestly say...
I've enjoyed the ride!
Well then, here we are. Time for me to move out of the way and leave it to the women you are about to meet. They
