- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I like the idea: post-apocalypse, multi-racial, strong women characters, punk rock pirates in New Jersey/NYC waters, suitable for YA audience. I like that it's written & drawn by a woman. But the story's just not there. Then again, I have a hard time getting into the style of manga, and this is definitely heavily influenced. A good solid comic to give a kid who likes manga, but not enough there for adults.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Typical punky Becky Cloonan characters meet a flooded East Coast of the U.S.A. as they cruise their pirate ships and evade giant, ferocious sea turtle riding enemies and evils of the deeps of Jersey. Our little stow-away hero is caught and is made to help in the kitchen, peeling potatoes and caring for the egg-laying birds. He has a treasure map and baddies will stop at nothing to pry it from his hands! Dun dun duuun. Most excellent. One of my favourite books, period.
