It was twilight when Mikayla left the beach. The air had cooled considerably from earlier and goosebumps pricked her bare arms and legs. Not that it bothered her. Mikayla felt so giddy with excitement she barely noticed the chilly air numbing her skin. Her heart beat with what she considered to be true love for Sam.

She’d fancied Sam since the beginning of high-school, endlessly dreaming of those hazel eyes that seemed to bore straight into her soul at a glance. And that perfect smile… Not to mention those perfect lips. Gosh, why hadn’t he kissed her today? Why hadn’t she been brave and went in for the kiss?
