    Pricilla stood at the door, her hand hovering just above its rough surface.  She hadn’t had the courage for the last several minutes to just go ahead and knock.

    The last couple of weeks had been terrible and that was putting it nicely. She hadn’t come here because she wanted to. She’d come here because she hadn’t had a choice. She had needed to get as far away from her home town as possible.

    The city her auntie and uncle lived in was nothing like she’d imagined it. In fact, it was quite similar to the town she’d left. She decided that it could have something to do with the fact that they lived on the edge of the city.

    The Amish communities always tried to keep themselves separated as much as possible. Here it seemed that the community was rather small, but it was peaceful.

    The leaves made a rustling sound as they fell to the ground in an array of colors and the city noises could hardly be heard as more than a quiet whisper.

    She glanced around the tiny farm once more. It had a white fence that stretched all the way around it. A modest red barn stood where she could see at least two horses and three cows, and the farm house in the front of the property seemed to loom over her where she stood on the porch unable to knock.

    She would be happy here, hopefully. Once she was able to put all the past hurt behind her, she would be happy. Pricilla brushed a hand over the front of her plain blue dress before finally knocking firmly on the door.
