    The earliest memories that Dugroz had were ragged, disjointed, and hazy. He remembered the face of his mother; verdant, strong, and kind. He remembered the visitor that came to their village. He was thin and wrapped in black robes that obscured his face and body. Mother said that he was one with the tribe, but he did not look like one of the Strong People.

    Dugroz remembered the necklace that mother had given him. It was strangely designed and the silver color was ugly, but mother said it was important, so he kept it.
