    Introduction

    We follow the adventures of Tom and his irrepressible squirrel friend Ratty. They head off on an adventure to explore a supposedly haunted old graveyard. Will they discover ghosts and ghouls? Or much more than they bargained?

    A mystery unsolved

    There lived a ruddy-furred mouse named Tom. Tom was the son of a fletcher. Tom, his father, and his mother lived in a small township, Hawthorn. His father taught his little boy the trade, hoping that he would grow up to be just like himself one day. Tom loved his father, but his heart ached for the thrill of adventure, danger, and the awarded fame. The little mouse’s desire for action burned within him, brighter than his fiery coat in the morning sun. Maybe one day, once you’ve grown big! assured his kindly father.

    Tom’s spirit was restless, with a strong desire to prove his bravery to all the townsfolk! But how?

    Tom’s peaceful little town had a school, a market, a town hall, and other simple necessities surrounded by farms and woodland. One place of great interest did exist, said to be an ancient graveyard. These ruins were said to be many years old. It was a cold, dark, and incredibly unkempt place.
