About this ebook

Printer ink and toner have been called "liquid gold" and "gold powder" due to the astronomically high price of printer cartridges. However, there is a way to cut printer cartridge costs by up to 75% without sacrificing quality. In the past, the vast majority of businesses have been limited to purchasing over-priced OEM (original equipment manufacturer) printer cartridges. This pricing model was started by the top printer manufacturers, who utilize various tactics to protect their cartridge sales revenue.

Michael Davis, the owner of an aftermarket printer cartridge business, has more than twenty years of experience in the printing industry. He firmly believes in two things related to the printing industry:

OEM(original equipment manufacturer) printer cartridges are priced exorbitantly high for consumers and businesses.

Shoppers and businesses have the right to choose affordable cartridge alternatives.

The truth is, the amount of ink in your cartridges is about the same amount in a single ketchup packet. A Consumer Reports study found that the cost of inkjet ink ranges from $13 to $75 an ounce, which makes the ink inside of your printer cartridges more expensive than Dom Perignon champagne.

A Consumer Reports study found that the cost of inkjet ink ranges from $13 to $75 an ounce, which equates to $1,664 to $9,600 per gallon. The ink inside of your printer cartridges is more expensive than Dom Perignon champagne and French perfume.

So, how much liquid gold, or ink, is actually inside your inkjet printer cartridge? Very little. A typical black inkjet printer cartridge has 8 milliliters of fluid, roughly equivalent to a single ketchup packet (8 grams). A typical color inkjet printer cartridge has 3.5 milliliters of liquid, less than ¾ of a teaspoon. Let’s assume your printer has three color inkjet cartridges (i.e., cyan, magenta, and yellow). In that case, each color inkjet cartridge has 1.167 milliliters of ink. The total amount of ink inside a typical inkjet-cartridge pair is 11.5 milliliters of fluid, of which you are using roughly 50 percent for
