The Adventures of Super-Dan - Tyson Tike

    Chapter 1

Deep in the heat and cold of space, sat the planet called Super-Planet. The planet was massive, glowing with a radioactive green and orange combination that gave the thin brown ring that encircled the globe an eye-catching touch.

In the middle of the planet, sat the capital of Super-City. It was bigger than any other city around. Overflowing with life, animals and the occasional villain. With buildings that went so high, they passed the clouds and into space itself.

In Super-City lived the Super-people, a race of super-enhanced beings with super-strength, invulnerability and flight power. They lived out normal lives as normal as could be with the head Older, Super-Bob, watching over them and placing rules in place to keep them all from killing one another.

In one particular house, lived a man, but not just any man, an ordinary man. His name was Super-Danielvitz.

He was about as ordinary as they came with Super-people, with bulletproof skin, razor-sharp reflexes, and flight power.

So, why was this man the focus of the story? Well, today was the day he was leaving.

I’m going to miss you Super-Wonka, he said. He gently patted his little green friend on the head. The creature resembled a dog, except for the bright green fur 8

that covered his body and the short, scaly tail that flowed from his behind.

Super-Wonka purred in response to his master’s touch. Reaching out of his pocket, Danielvitz tossed him a treat a small crunchy brown square that weighed about half of him. The animal jumped high in the air and snatched it with its small jaws.

After taking one last look around him, Danielvitz picked up his suitcase, containing his few belongings that mattered most to him, and headed out the door. Super-Wonka followed eagerly behind, still chewing on the treat.

As Danielvitz walked down the street of his soon-to-be old neighborhood, a voice called out to him.

    Bye Super-Danielvitz!

He waved a farewell to his long-time neighbor, Super-Sarah. Super-Wonka barked happily and the two set off again.

Walking through town one last time, lots of people waved at him. Memories flooded his mind as he slowly took each step through the crowded streets. He had lived his entire life in this city. And although he had not made many friends that were still living on the planet, he had enjoyed the many memories and adventures he had experienced.

As he neared the city’s center, he noticed the Core shop beaming with customers. It took less than a second to turn his entire destination to his right and head towards the shop.

Core was the name of the liquid that all super-people loved the most. It came in all different colors and consistencies. It did not do much for the body, other than supply it with extra energy. The only rule was not to have more than a pillometer a day, for fear of exploding.

Puffing his chest out noticeably, he pushed the swinging door open and prepared himself to see one of his many friends…okay, maybe his only friend.

    Well…maybe he wasn’t a friend.

stopped at the core shop across the street to get some extra energy for the road and say goodbye to the owner, who had been friends with him since they were little.

    9

Well look what the Super-Nova dragged in! the core owner, Super-Romo announced as he entered the small store.

    Hello, Super-Danielvitz replied softly.

Super-Romo had to be one of the loudest, most annoying and arrogant person he had ever had to live with.

They had grown up together, with Romo always being the one to win the awards and be the top of the class. And Danielvitz being the just slightly below average guy with a few bad grades and no real friends.

This would not be a guy he missed.

So, I hear you’re planning on leaving again!

Danielvitz nodded and Romo turned to a guy and jabbed him in the back. Hope it doesn’t end up like last time!

It, It won’t, he stuttered. He kept his eyes mainly to the purple-tinted boards.

Romo’s laugh was deep and condescending in every way. Some of the other customers joined in with the teasing, some of them people Danielvitz had never seen before.

"I’m sure buddy, I’m sure. So, what will it be?

How about a nice splash of divorce?"

The crowd let out a low ohhhhhhhh that made his skin crawl with bumps. His anger was flushing, he could feel it running up his neck.

It will be different! You’ll see! I will be a hero!

Romo snorted. Ha, just make sure you don’t turn into a villain.

Just watch, the next thing you hear of me, I will be famous and a hero! Greater than all the others! The city will love me!

A round of laughter made its way around the shop once again. No one had ever gotten their city to like them. So, don’t waste your breath!

Just watch. He narrowed his eyes, a silent promise being sealed in his chest.

    10

Without warning, Romo wrapped Danielvitz in a big bear hug. Despite being a superbeing with enhanced strength, Danielvitz tried to squeeze out of the entanglement as fast as possible. By the time he got out of it, he was gasping for breath.

Ok, see you, pal. I’ll be sure to ask the Older how you are doing every little bit. Got that?

Bye, he responded bluntly. Keeping his head low, he ducked out of the shop, not even getting a chance to grab one last Core drink.

The Cover was the center of town and the main place of power in the city. Not power like electrical power, political power. The Cover was the home for the Olders, the leaders of the Super-people. They govern the laws and permit new housing structures and outer-space trips as well as designate protectors in case of emergencies and karaoke nights. The place itself was even special, sitting directly center with the planet’s circular system. Giant green stones encircled the small area with an even greener grass that was as soft as Super-Wonka’s fur.

Basically, the Olders policed the whole planet and helped install new school parking lots.

Super-Bob was the oldest and by far the wisest Older. He was tall, dark and handsome with a gray and white beard that stretched down below his chest. His blue and green eyes always seemed to stare straight into your soul. Many of the citizens did not enjoy talking with the man, as he often acted rather blandly and wildly than the others. Danielvitz did not mind the hysterics, he was probably just lonely anyway. Olders spent all their time either in the Cover or out in space chatting with foreign leaders.

For this reason and many other incidental events caused by Super-Bob, many tried to always try to talk with other Olders.

    11

But the only way to get permission to leave for as long as Danielvitz wanted to, was with Super-Bob’s blessing.

Walking to the edge of the circle, next to one of the tall rocks, Danielvitz spotted the Older posting guard with a small shelter guarding the way to the middle of the circle.

Ah, Super-Danielvitz, how may I help you?

    The Older asked.

You know why I’m here, Danielvitz replied curtly. His meeting with Romo had left him heated, he would need to calm down.

Of course, of course. Any luggage?

Danielvitz handed him his suitcase, Super-Bob handed it off to other Olders to look inside, as was field trip policy. Danielvitz continued the trade-off by reluctantly nudging Super-Wonka over to the Older’s feet. Super-Bob swooped down and patted the small animal.

He’s trained. Should give you no problems if you feed him regularly and give him treats, Danielvitz instructed.

And we will, The Older told him. Ready to go?

Danielvitz took one last kneel to give Super-Wonka a solid petting. He fought back tears as he looked into the small, blue eyes of his furry friend for the last time.

The creature purred a goodbye to him. Feeling almost heartbroken, he stood and followed the old man to the center of the Cover, leaving his favorite companion behind forever.

Super-Bob looked to the sky, not noticing the dropping look growing on Danielvitz’s face. May the Elder bless you and keep you safe.

    Thank you, sir, Danielvitz replied.

With one final head nod from the Older, Danielvitz launched into the sky at full flight.

    Chapter 2

This is not good, not good I say!

Please sit-down Mr. Mayor. The secretary said calmly.

Don’t tell me what to do Clara! He snapped. Then promptly sat down on his cushy chair next to the desk.

Yes Sir. Can I get you some coffee?

Mayor Colorful waved the offer away with a hand and a sigh. Look at me, I’m bouncing off the walls and it’s not even noon yet. I don’t more coffee, I need a miracle.

Yes sir. Feeling her duty was fulfilled for the moment, Clara quietly left the office.

The chunky Mayor leaned forward once more and peered at the pile of papers surrounding his desk.

There was no way around it, crime was the biggest issue affecting his beloved city of Coloropia, the fourth biggest city on earth. An average super-villain attempted to threaten the entire city every-other-day, with normal criminals performing petty crimes every single day.

The police force were so backed up there was no way to straighten it out. It was hard to get fresh recruits to help clean up the streets when the super-villains kept making that a living nightmare.

Since Mayor Colorful had become the city’s Mayor two years ago, the original 60,000 cops had shrunk to 29,000. Most due to quitting but at least 10,000 were taken or killed in action by a super-villain.

As a direct result of the city’s devastatingly high crime rate, banks refused to send money to any of their fellow bank branches in the city for fear of losing it, which was not based on just a hunch. On average, the bank was robbed at least every other day. Less money meant harder living, harder living meant people moved away. Tourism 13

was down to an all-time low and taxes had to be raised to keep the police, firefighters and hospitals functional.

The city looked normal from a distance, with its tall, beautiful buildings and skyscrapers. But on the inside, it was dying daily.

With every day that passed, Mayor Colorful lost support for himself and his government. If nothing would be done about the crime, in the next year, he and this whole city were done for.

He had tried asking the government in D.C. for help several times, that’s even what got him elected. But every time he was told the same thing. They were simply too busy to help with day-to-day affairs and needed to wait until an actual city emergency to send troops to help.

Of course, they had no idea that he was talking about super-villains with the power to wipe the city off the globe at the snap of a finger.

Sir, Clara called from the other room, phone call for you online V.

He sighed yet again. The Villain line, the phone that had to be installed for villains and villains only. He couldn’t pay any of the ransom demands they wanted, but of course, it was always nice for the people to know that their beloved Mayor was talking face to face with the darkness of the city itself.

Mayor Colorful picked up the scarlet red phone.

    Yes?

An evil laugh filled the Mayor’s head.

So, Mayor Colorful, did you get it in time? Or will I have to watch your cherished city be blown to bits? Like popcorn in a furnace?

When he first took office, every ransom call had always been the most dramatic thing ever. Police would surround every important building in the city, the Police Chief Flatterbutton and several of his techies would tap the cell with computer screens galore. Trying to pinpoint the 14

villain’s location and stop him or her before the dastardly plan unfolded.

But now, in the wake of so much criminality, there was no one to take the ransom call but the poor Mayor. The city had lost hope, whether it lived or died today made no difference to them. It would all happen again in another two hours.

We can’t meet your demands, Evil Guy.

Never say my name on the phone! The villain shrieked. What do you mean you can’t?

I mean, I can’t get you free cable for all of eternity.

Of course, you can! You are the Mayor! And I have rocket missiles aimed at your beloved city! He laughed again just to prove his evil point.

To be honest, I wish I wasn’t. Because then I wouldn’t have to say this to you right now. He checked the door one last before lowering his voice into the phone.

    Go ahead and do it.

There was a silence for a while on both ends, then Evil Guy spoke again quickly, each word stumbling over the other.

    What did you just say?

Just blow us up! It’s not like anyone wants to help us out or anything! We can’t get a loan because everyone knows we can’t pay it back. The police can’t keep up with you guys and your fancy gadgets, the whole town blames me for all the crime that I can’t stop, so why don’t you just blow us up.

Boo hoo Mayor, now gives me the cable, or I blow up the city! he threatened.

The Mayor stood up this time, full of rage and pent-up stress. You know what? Why don’t you just buy a lifetime supply of cable? You robbed the bank four times already! This means the demand you are making right now, is one of the stupidest I’ve heard in a while!

    15

Stupid huh? Well, we will see who is stupid when these missiles crash into the city!

    The phone went dead.

The Mayor put the phone down, walked the other side of the room, and picked up a dark blue phone.

After a few rings, a deep and tired voice answered the other end.

    Yes, Mr. Mayor?

"Evil Guy is going to fire missiles at the city, I assume he’s at the same place he’s been for the past year.

The one only a few miles out of town. He tried to get free cable to that address."

I’m on it, sir! The Chief answered, suddenly finding energy in his voice. Then hung up.

With another sigh of boredom and depression, the Mayor shouted for Clara to enter the room.

    She entered quickly. Yes, Sir?.

    Sound the level red alert.

The secretary’s eyes widened, and her mouth gaped slightly, then her face cleared. Yes, Sir

Clara left the room, loud sirens sounded out throughout the city.

The Mayor leaned on his desk, completely devoid of hope.

    Please let us die today.

A few minutes later, several uniformed police officers transported the Mayor and his secretary to a private bunker underneath the city. They had used the large space so often that the Mayor had actually begun making it his permanent home. He realized gloomily would move in next week if they did not die today.

Outside the city, citizens were giving mixed reactions to the sirens blaring their warning song. Some people went into an end-of-the-world panic and began breaking everything in sight, rioting in the streets and yelling I was right! While others tried to hide and protect 16

their loved ones, singing them songs and cuddling them as they prepared to die.

Some just continued as if it were a normal day, going to work, watching TV, or just simply doing nothing like it was a completely normal day.

    Because it was.

    Chapter 3

Despite having only been there once, Danielvitz found it quite easy to trace his path back to Earth. It was only one solar system away after all. Space was a beautiful place, and he was reminded of that as he came into view of the small planet. Bright stars stared at him from close and afar while giant rocks hurtled past him.

The familiar sensation of entering the atmosphere burned at his skin, making him feel fully wholesome. The giant body of blue liquid they called an ocean came into view once again and he stopped, just above the clouds to get a superhuman view of the place. He wasn’t sure where he wanted to live but now seemed as any good time as ever to pick. This world was smaller, but it used it well. The big blue water folded gently around the colors of the land, bringing back all the memories of his previous visit some years before.

It did not take long to locate the country of where he had first lived. It stood out like a black dot on a whiteboard. With its silver ground and metal look, Danielvitz decided it would be better to live in the country over to the right this time.

Better to avoid trouble that I haven’t made yet, he told himself.

He picked a spot far away from where his former home sat. across the ocean too. This was even a different color, green, like Super-planet. That seemed a good place he could call home. Changing his course against the wind, 17

Danielvitz headed for the middle of the massive body of land.

He forgot how much fun it was to pass through clouds until he whizzed through one on his way down.

Forgetting where he was going for a moment, he went back up into the cloud and took a deep breath. the cool air filled his body and turn into a misty liquid inside his mouth.

    Whooooosshhh!

Danielvitz felt his fingers rip away from his suitcase. His body spun violently in the air. After a few seconds of shock, he caught his balance to see what had disrupted his flight.

He was just in time to see eight gigantic missiles heading towards a brightly colored city.

Well, that’s not good. It was not planning on going there, just passing over, but they needed his help.

He estimated he only had a thousand feet before the missiles reached the metropolis and destroyed the city and surrounding area.

He disposed of the first two in no time at all. Using his super-speed to outfly the missiles to grab them and steer them into space. Aiming them for a course that would have them floating forward for a long time before ever hitting a planet.

The next two would be just fine in the water that sat just next to the multi-colored city. They were beginning to separate, and he really had to hustle to catch them from so far apart.

He had no time to watch the explosion in the bay before he flew after the final four. The total distance that separated them was about a mile apart.
