Abstract
This paper essentially reflects on the approaches used and adopted by different actors, state, civic and international, while engaging in the reconstruction of Cambodia. They operated more or less within the so-called common frame of post-conflict peace-building in reconciliation. The people and religious movements such as the Dharmayietra/ peace walks united and healed communities across conflict areas. The paper looks at the government-led reconciliation process, known as the Win-Win policy, and the hybrid national-international mechanism of the Extraordinary Chambers of the Court of Cambodia (ECCC)/the Khmer Rouge Tribunal. It also discusses the efforts such as peace education programs, memorials, peace museums, and ways of healing the past, at the same time envisioning the future. Peace museum mainly focuses on bringing a new generation of Cambodians into designing and leading their future. It encourages young people to consider the lessons learned from the past. 70% of Cambodians are under the age of 30 and are fluent in English and technology. Their role in the next 30 years of social reconciliation is vital.
