    Chapter 1

    Los Angeles, California

Rick Camden sat on the bed in his hotel room, pushed his hand through his short, blond hair and waited for the police to arrive. He looked around the room and spotted his empty bags and clothes strewn across the floor. The Black and White Tour had only been going on for a few weeks now and every time they had stopped at a hotel, Rick’s room had been broken into and a note left behind. Rick picked up the note again and read its contents. It was just like the others, disgusting.

    Rick my love,

I have walked through your room, lain on your bed and held your clothes in my arms. But one day soon, it’s all going to be real. I’m going to hold YOU in my arms. But until then I’m content knowing that I will one day have you. I’m watching you. You can’t hide.

It wasn’t signed, as usual. He flung the note on the bed just as there was a knock on the door. Rick got up and walked to the door.

Hey Jason. Thanks for coming. Rick said allowing the guy in and shaking his hand before giving him a slap on the back.

Hey! That’s Sergeant Kincaid to you buddy. He said, his green eyes twinkling. Sergeant Jason Kincaid was one of Rick’s closest friends for the past thirteen years. The twenty-four year old was a native of Florida and Rick’s neighbour and friend for a long time before moving to Los Angeles to be a COP. Every time Rick was in LA, they would try to meet and catch up.

Sometimes I still can’t believe that you’re a COP. Rick told him as they walked into the room.

Yeah well, you’re in a boy band. Jason teased.

I prefer musical group. Rick replied, turning to him.

Anyway, it’s at times like this when you can be happy that you have a friend who is a COP. The press would have a field day if they found out about this. Jason said, Is that the note? he added then, pointing to the piece of paper on the bed.

Yeah. Rick said picking it up and handing it to him.

Jason read the note and raised his eyebrows.

Well, it looks like you’ve got yourself an admirer. He commented.

    Rick rolled his eyes.

    No kidding.

Is anything missing, stolen? Jason asked then.

No, I looked through all my things and everything seems to be here. Rick said motioning to everything around them.

And you told me that this is not the first time that this has happened. Jason stated.

No. Twice before. In a hotel in Florida and then New York. Rick told him, Nothing was missing then either. But I did get a note exactly like this on both occasions. He added.

Jason thought about this for a moment.

Rick, couldn’t this just be a practical joke that one of the guys are playing on you? Jason asked, I mean, where are the rest of fellas? Why aren’t they at the hotel?

The guys all decided to go out tonight and I didn’t feel like going so I stayed in. If this was a practical joke would they have kept it up this long? Rick asked his hands on his hips. Besides, when I asked them about it, they all looked confused and worried as well. I don’t think this is a joke Jason.

Okay Rick. Jason said folding his arms and facing him. What exactly do you think this person is going to do to you?

Rick looked at him, eyes wide.

I don’t know! he said throwing his arms up, You’re asking me to go into the mind of an apparently crazed and obsessed girl!

    Jason actually smiled at him.

How do you even know that this is a girl? he asked Rick.

Rick looked ready to punch him.

Oh that’s just sick! How could you even go there? he glared at Jason.

But it’s true. We don’t know. I mean, there is a lot of psychos out there Rick! he said not containing his laughter one bit.

Well, I’m glad you’re enjoying this. Rick said roughly, Someone could be trying to kidnap me or kill me… and all you can do is stand there and laugh!

Look Rick,Jason said sobering up, I’m sorry. I’m just looking at this situation of yours logically that’s all. I mean, you’re a Bayside Boy, crazed fans are the norm for you. So you got a strange note and your room is a little messy. Nothing is missing and you’re not hurt, so what’s the problem?

Rick thought about this for a while.

I guess you’re right. He said with a sigh, Maybe it’s nothing. But..

What? Jason asked looking at his serious face.

I know this sounds weird but I keep getting the feeling that I’m being watched. Rick said.

    Rick-

I know it’s strange because I’m like on the top floor and stuff but you know there could be hidden cameras. He said.

    Jason laughed.

I was trying to be serious. Rick said upset that he wasn’t being taken seriously.

I know, that’s what makes it so funny. Jason replied. Look Rick, if it’s really bothering you that much why don’t I come by tomorrow and we can talk about it some more and see if we figure anything out okay? he asked his friend.

Okay.Rick returned, walking Jason over to the door, Jason, I’m really worried about this.

I can see that. Jason said stopping at the door. Look, you’re tired. Get some rest and we’ll talk about it tomorrow.

    Thanks Jas. Goodnight. Rick said.

Goodnight. Jason said walking out the door. When he was walking into the elevator he pulled out his cell phone and dialled a number, when someone answered, he grinned mischievously.

You guys are so cruel. That boy is scared to death. Jason said, he could picture the face on the other end smiling.

Good. He deserves it. A voice answered.

    CHAPTER 2

Five thirty the next morning, Rick woke up to a loud squeaking noise. He got up quickly and turned on the bedside lamp, just in time to see someone, all dressed in black run out the sliding doors to the balcony with something gleaming in the light. He jumped out of bed and ran onto the balcony but the figure had disappeared by then.

He walked back into the room, pulled in the sliding doors and securing them before sitting on his bed. He contemplated calling security, but what could they do? The figure had already left and it was five thirty in the morning, he doubted anyone else had seen this person anyway. No, he knew he had to tell Jason. Maybe now he might believe him.

Rick’s driver parked the car outside the 49th precinct where Rick got out and headed up the stairs. He went straight up to the counter where he saw a short guy with a mass of curly, brown hair and a friendly smile, who looked like he was in his mid-thirties.

Good morning. He began politely, Can you tell me where I can find Sergeant Kincaid?

Sure thing. The guy replied, and then pointed to the left, You see that door over there? he asked Rick.

Rick followed his finger and saw a dark, wooden door with some writing on it.

    Yeah.

That would be his office. He should be in there.

Thanks a lot. Rick said before walking towards the door. He paused when he got close enough to read the door. There was a large sticker covering the sign that he figured said Sergeant Kincaid. He laughed as he knocked.

Come in! he heard Jason shout.

Rick walked in and shut the door behind him. Jason looked up from his paper work and got up.

Rick? What are you doing here? he asked surprised, Wasn’t I supposed to be coming to see you later?

Yeah. I know. Rick said walking over to him, But this was important and I couldn’t wait. I’ve been trying to get you all morning but-

I wasn’t home. Jason finished, I know, I was out on a case early this morning and just got into the office about ten minutes ago. He explained.

    Oh.

Yeah. So what is it? Jason asked, leaning on his desk and folding his arms.

Well, Rick began taking one of the seats that were placed conveniently in front the desk, I was asleep this morning when I heard this kind of squeaking sound and when I woke up, I saw this black figure run out my room onto the balcony and he or she or whoever it was, was holding a knife. Rick finished.

Are you sure it was a knife? Jason asked his eyebrows drawing close.

I’m positive. Rick said, I know what I saw Jason.

Okay, okay. Jason said putting up his hands defensively. I was just making sure.

Now do you believe me? Rick asked him.

I never thought you were lying Rick. Jason told him, So did you ask any of the other guys if they heard or saw anything last night?

Yeah I did but they all came back to the hotel really late and were sound asleep. No one saw anything. Rick said disappointed.

Hmm..that’s pretty strange. Jason said scratching his head, And you said before you’re on the top floor. How did someone just disappear from the balcony?

Well, coming to think about it, the balcony between the rooms are pretty close. Rick said then, It’s pretty easy to jump from one balcony to the other.

That has to be it then. Jason said.

So what are you going to do? Rick asked, You can see now someone’s after me.

    Jason sighed.

What do you want me to do Rick? he asked putting out a hand, You’ve already got a bodyguard.

Yeah, but I still don’t feel safe. Rick told him frankly.

Rick , bodyguards are trained to handle these kinds of things. Jason assured him.

I know I know. Rick said then paused, Look Jas, can you do me a favor and come to the show tonight? he asked, I would really feel a lot better if you did.

I don’t know. I might have to work. Jason informed him.

Just try to make it. Rick pleaded.

Jason watched his expression and sighed.

Okay I’ll try. Jason said, But I can’t promise you I’ll be there. He added quickly, After all this is LA and I’m a COP.

Rick got up then and slapped him on the back.

I know you’ll do your best. He said before walking to the door. He stopped, his hand on the doorknob, and turned to face Jason once again, By the way, did you know that there’s a sticker on your door over your name?

    Jason groaned loudly.

Great. What does this one say? he asked.

Dumbass. Rick said with a chuckle.

Last week it was amateur. Jason informed him, I think they’re getting a big kick out of this. They’re just jealous. They think I’m too young to be a Sergeant.

    You are. Rick agreed.

Shut up and leave. Jason said.

Rick’s chuckle followed his out the door.

    CHAPTER 3

As soon as Rick left, Jason took his seat behind his desk, looked at his phone for a minute, picked up the receiver, punched in some numbers and waited. On the second ring, the person on the other end answered.

    Christian, it’s Jason.

Hey what’s up Jason? the blonde member of the British group, BBKAY asked good naturedly.

Christian, I think you guys are taking this joke thing a little too far. Jason told him. You guys really scared him this morning.

Christian frowned on the other end of the line.

What are you talking about? he asked confused.

Which one of you guys dressed in black and hung out in Rick’s room last night with a knife? Jason asked then.

What! Christian asked stunned. I really don’t know what that’s all about, Jason, but it wasn’t us! he added.

Come on Christian, are you sure it wasn’t any of the other guys? Jason asked again, picking up a pen and twirling it.

I’m sure. Christian emphasized, "We had all gone out with the other
