Introduction
What is the purpose of Manage your time? This project arises from a set of questions and specific needs. We live in days of haste and constant rush. It is not necessary to delve into the conditions of each individual to know that there is a notable deficiency in time management. This responds to an even more complex factor: are people aware of how important time is in achieving their goals? Do they have all the relevant techniques to manage time in a better way?
The question of Time has been dealt with, throughout history, by an infinite number of thinkers and great figures in different areas of thought. From Aristotle to Jorge Luis Borges, from St. Augustine to Stephen Hawking. Philosophy, science, theology, all have something to say in relation to time and its different conceptions. It is definitely a complex and full of edges topic. But it is also a wonderful and very significant topic for human beings today.
The misinformation rooted in society is the main reason for the creation of Manage your time.
This project is based on empathy. I want you to be happy, to grow as much as you consider necessary, to develop as a highly productive human being. To do this you need nothing more than motivation, focus and willpower. The rest of the work is left to your positive habits, which will contribute to that. What you will learn in the following chapters is something inherent to you, just lying dormant in some corner of your inner self.
My purpose is that you give your life the importance it deserves. You have not come to this planet to stay still, immobile like a scarecrow. You have come to achieve your life purposes, and the best way to do it is through an impeccable management of your time and all your resources. Only to the extent that you discover that you have limited time, you will have the determination to break with any practice that prevents you from using your time as a tool and not as a crutch.
If you love life, don't waste time, because time is what life is made of.
Bruce Lee.
The use of time today is a matter of concern for various specialists, including myself. Although it may seem obvious, the gap between the individual who wants to be productive and the use he makes of his (limited) time in life is getting wider and wider. This is one of the reasons why I have proposed to expose different concepts and strategies for a much more pragmatic and effective time management.
Through a direct and practical language, Gestiona tu tiempo seeks to help people understand the relevance of time and its use in terms of achieving their goals or objectives. What are the habits that reduce productivity? How to break them? How to better organize your tasks for a much more effective work? What is burnout syndrome? What factors affect the stress of a worker? How to manage stress and prevention techniques?
These are just some of the topics covered in this project, designed to raise awareness about time and its importance in daily life. As stated in a section of the first chapter -What is time? Time as a resource to achieve your goals, time is a check that life gives you to use for your well-being. However, there are habits that unconsciously force you to waste it. In the words of the important English playwright William Shakespeare:
Better three hours too early than one minute too late.
It is precisely these great monsters called habits that gobble up your time in bites, without contemplation of any kind. In Manage your time I teach you some strategies to identify these negative behaviors and you can break forever with these thieves of energy and time that prevent you from becoming what you want to be.
I assure you that, at the end of this reading, you will be someone totally different. You will be aware of your time, you will respect it for what it means in your life. You will work to improve any aspect you consider pertinent and, the best part: you will have the tools to do it.
My motivation is for you to reach your goals. My grain of sand is made of experience, knowledge and empathy. I am convinced that you have all the tools to reach any destination. The small adjustments you need are contained in the pages of this book. Don't waste a second of your life in actions that are not related to your life purposes.
Each of the chapters contained herein contains important tools that you can use to improve every aspect of your life, no matter how small it may be. Remember that time is your best ally only if you manage it well, otherwise you will be facing one of the most implacable enemies in the history of mankind.
Time is the most valuable thing a man can spend.
Theophrastus.
Chapter 1: What is time? Time as a resource to achieve your goals
What is time?
The idea of time is one of the most studied issues throughout the history of mankind. At present, there are several definitions, within which there may be minute or even very significant variations between them. Although time is something that is rooted in each of our actions, and is the ultimate tool of any individual, scientists still cannot agree on this issue. But why is it so complicated to establish a consensus on time?
According to the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), there are different definitions, although all agree that the second is the definitive unit of time. One of the universal definitions of the word time, according to the RAE, is:
A physical quantity that makes it possible to order the sequence of events, establishing a past, a present and a future. Its unit in the International System is the second.
And the shortest definition, but also the most accurate, is:
Time during which someone lives or something happens.
But whatever the world's scholars may say about this complex and abstract subject, what is time to you? Time, for any of us, is the most democratically distributed resource. The undeniable truth is that we all have the same amount of time to carry out various tasks. Hence the importance of having a very clear conception of what it represents and the possible consequences in terms of its management.
It is no secret that, nowadays, time is one of the fundamental tools to carry out an activity effectively and efficiently. Whoever is able to master time has mastered himself. In this way, the chances of failing in the pursuit of a specific objective are considerably reduced. In other words, once you are able to identify the gaps in your actions, you will be able to better manage each of the minutes you have at your disposal. The idea is that you learn to put that 24-hour daily check to good use.
As you will understand, this wonderful check is a gift of life and absolutely everyone has it. No matter your biological, social, political or clinical conditions, with each new dawn you will have the same check on the table. The use you make of them depends solely and exclusively on you, the focus you have and the goal you long to achieve.
Harvey Mackay is one of the most important businessmen in the world today. His success can be understood from this wonderful phrase, which contains, in turn, a wealth of undeniable truths.
Time is free, but it is priceless. You can't have it, but you can use it. You can't keep it, but you can spend it. Once you have lost it, you can never get it back.
Harvey Mackay.
You can't have time, but you can use it. Time, in short, is something abstract and indecipherable. However, you have the possibility of using it according to your specific interests. Although time is, as we have already said, a check that you will have every day of your life, it has a limit. Like all other resources, time also has an expiration date. That is why it is essential that you familiarize yourself with its use according to good practices. Only through an excellent management of your time you will achieve everything you want.
In the opposite cases, where disorder and lack of organization prevail, time will no
