The breeze tussled his hair as he sat under the oak tree, staring out across the field of dandelions. Through the leaves, the sun shone brightly, though not too hot and not too cold.
This day could last forever, Jacob thought.
He continued reading the book sitting in his lap—On Liberty, By John Stuart Mill. A philosopher over four centuries past. Jacob read, page after page, enjoying the bliss of the perfect weather surrounding him in quiet peace.
I feel as if there is something I need to do. How did I get here?
Central Park, New York City, on a park bench overlooking the lake. Families sat on red and white picnic blankets on the hillside, their children giggling and laughing at the ducks splashing in the water. The smell of pretzels and hot dogs drifted through the air, a pleasant aroma to Jacob's senses. He looked across the park, at the towering skyline surrounding him, searching for the GarVoque Tower. His home.
I need to go home. For some reason, however, the concept was counterintuitive. His mind was playing tricks with him. You don't need to go home Jacob, right here is where you are meant to be . . . but I am tired, I wish to sleep . . . no you don't. You can sleep right here. His will won, but it took all his effort to stand.
He walked at a leisurely pace along the path, a nagging voice in his head trying to call him back to the bench. As he looked
