    INTRODUCTION

400 Medications Simplified is designed to help students quickly memorize the most commonly prescribed medications in the United States, specifically their generic and brand names, pharmacologic classes, and indications. That’s it. The book is therefore a supplement (not a replacement) to augment either a formalized pharmacy technician training program or on-the-job training.

Whether you are a nursing student, premed, pre-pharm, or an aspiring pharmacy technician preparing for the PTCE or the ExCPT exam, this book will introduce you to how seemingly nonsensical medication names can be organized meaningfully so that one can recall them at will. Again, this book is not comprehensive by nature as it merely addresses the aforementioned four components.

Besides the featured top 300 medications, an additional 100 is preserved in Part 4 for those who are keen to learn more, those who are motivated to outwork others, and those who want to differentiate themselves from the crowd in the competitive job market.

The strength of this book lies in the medication organization, which facilitates the memorization process. The alphabetical order of both generic and brand names promotes quick access to any medication. Details such as drug dosing, mechanism of action, adverse drug event, contraindications, etc. are not discussed here to prevent information overload. All those details can be found in other reference materials mentioned in the References section.
