ACKNOWLEDGMENT
I would like to thank my mother Catherine Robinson Wade.
She went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2003. By far, my mother was the most amazing women that I have ever known. She was the mother of ten children. She had five boys and five girls. My mother brought us up in the nurturing admonishment of the Lord.
My mother taught us how to hold onto God’s unchanging hand, regardless of life’s challenges. We were a poor family by society’s standard, but my mother was rich in faith. I remember we were hungry many times. My mother would say, Drink a belly full of water, and in the morning, we will have something to eat.
Sure enough, we would awaken to either family or friends knocking on the door with bags of groceries, coming to bless us. To God be the glory!
Catherine Robinson Wade was a woman of integrity. She lived a holy life before her children because she wanted us to be saved as she was. I can remember a story that she told me about her spirit leaving her body. She said that she was sitting on a bed, in the state of Mississippi, and she was dying. She explained that as she watched her spirit leave her body, she looked down towards the floor, where two of my brothers were playing. She said to the Lord, Lord if you take me now, how will my children be saved?
Then she felt her spirit return to her body.
What an unselfish question that she asked God, knowing that she herself was suffering many cruelties at the hands of my father. That is simply how important the salvation of her children was to her. She could have easily said, Yes Lord, take me from all of this mistreatment and these hardships and bless my children to be okay.
Instead, she wanted to stay on Earth to ensure that her children were brought up to know who Jesus was and still is today.
My mother lived to see most of her children give their lives to Jesus and be filled with the baptism of the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking in tongues, as the Holy Ghost gave us utterance. At her home going service, I can remember saying, My mother didn’t have a lot to give us, but she gave us Jesus.
Today, I continue to strive to be as good a soldier as my mother was, in this great army of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If I’ve seen anyone stand firm on the battlefields of life; if I’ve seen anyone put their needs aside for the sake of their children; if I’ve seen anyone full of unwavering faith; if I’ve seen anyone forsake evil and cleave to good; if I’ve seen anyone love and live this life of holiness, it was my mother Catherine Robinson Wade. Rest in peace mother. I am striving to enter that glorious rest.
Your daughter,
Missy Coates
INTRODUCTION
I wrote this booklet to shed some light on how we are supposed to walk and live as soldiers in the army of our Lord, Jesus Christ. If you are having problems standing firm in the faith, then this booklet is for you. If you take the scriptures that are compiled in this booklet and apply them to your life on a daily basis, you will be able to recognize exactly what is in your life that is hindering you from standing firm in the faith.
If we are serious about our walk with Christ, then we will do everything that it takes to ensure our own success in standing for the Lord, whom we love. We will not allow anything nor anyone to separate us from
