Was Jesus God?: Why Evil?
()
About this ebook
(This book is similar to "The Road to Heaven") If God is so powerful, why does he allow evil? What does Jesus dying on the cross have to do with sins being forgiven? What does "I'm saved" mean? When I am drowning, I am not saved to the shore, I am saved from the water. In a spiritual sense, we are not saved to

ADJUSTMENTS FOR NON-CHRISTIAN READERS
Ihave published a variation of this book under the title THE ROAD TO HEAVEN. That book was written primarily for Christian readers with a working knowledge of the Bible. Also, it has a few things in it not in this book and visa versa.
Since you are not familiar with the Bible, all citations have been moved to the back of the book in order to make reading smoother for you. Also, this gives you the option of checking the citations after reading the text.
Also, this version is shorter than THE ROAD TO HEAVEN because it does not have the addendum on Satan’s name and where paradise is.

Atheists have always challenged God and who he is. More and more Christians are being challenged.
Perhaps some of the cause of the past century’s growing atheism is because of immigrants with other beliefs. Buddhists who immigrated during the Viet Nam War influenced us; Buddhism declares there is no such thing as truth and that God is just the essence of the universe. Hindus immigrated in great waves after the Viet Nam War when President Lyndon Johnson lifted many immigration restrictions. Hindus believe in thousands of gods, so have no problem adding the Christian God to their list.
Now after war in the Middle east, the western world has many Muslim immigrants, victims of the bad side of their own religion, but bringing with them other parts of the religion they were born into. Many are confused about Christianity.
Since most immigrants currently are Muslims and they/you grew up being given misinformation about the God of the Christians, I have written parts of this book with them/you in mind. Over the past ten years, I have taught English using the Bible as a text book to over 7000 Muslims, mostly in the Middle East, through World English Institute. They talk to me, not as a politician or reporter, but as their teacher. They have five main objections to Christianity.
(1) Their main objection is that Christians believe in three Gods because we talk about God being three persons
.
What is a person
? Never does the Bible call God’s attributes his persons
. Miriam Webster’s Dictionary defines person
as the self
. God does not have three selves. The self
is defined as (a) an individual’s character; (b) the entire person of an individual; (c) the union of elements such as thoughts, body, emotions, sensations that constitute the individuality and identity of a person. If God were three persons
, he would be three different individuals with different thoughts, emotions, etc.
Here are Bible verses saying God is one:
~ "Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one!" [1]
~ Jesus answered, ‘The foremost is,
Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is one Lord.’
[2]
~ "Since indeed God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith is one." [3]
~ "You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder." [4]
So, how do we reconcile this with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? Or are the Muslims correct in accusing us of believing in three Gods or perhaps two Gods plus the Holy Spirit?
Actually, they think our three Gods are God, Jesus, and Mary. They do not think of the Holy Spirit as separate from God, and neither do Christians.
Many atheists accuse Christians of believing these very same things. I dare say that not a few Christians ask these same questions but slide them under the table of their minds and just don’t face them because they do not know how to study through them in the Bible.
Here are other objections closely related to this by people of other world religions about Jesus.
(2) They are told that Christians believe God married Mary and then Jesus became God’s only begotten son.
(3) They do not understand how one man can take other people’s punishment for their Sins on a cross, thus leaving all those people to go on sinning as much as they want.
(4) They believe Jesus was a prophet and that God would not be so cruel as to make Jesus suffer on a cross.
(5) They say, If Jesus was God and dead three days, that means God was dead three days.
Well, come along with me as we try to work through these complicated issues. You may not agree with everything, but herein I offer you food for thought in an effort to draw us closer to the only God who exists and in whom we live, we move, and we have our being.
1~THERE IS ONE GOD
God is One, not many . When you speak into a audio recorder and your voice then comes out of that machine for other people to hear, that doesn't make you two. You are still one; you have just chosen to put your voice in something where you can be heard by more people or people far away. That audio recording is just another form of your voice.
You can stand in front of a movie camera and move around and speak. Then what you did can be shown on computer, television, and movie screens throughout the world. Does that mean there are now two of you ~ one in your body and one in the film? Or would that make hundreds of you ~ one in your body and one in each of the computers, televisions and theaters in the world?
God is One, and yet he revealed a part of himself in a burning bush to Moses just like you revealed a part of yourself in the audio recorder. Does that mean there were two Gods ~ one in heaven and one in the bush? No. God can reveal himself in different things if he wants to.
Today, God has his Word on paper and ink in a holy book. He has made his words visible to us in physical form. He is still not many Gods ~ one in heaven and thousands in all the copies of his holy books around the world. He is still one God.
To say God needs no partners
as the Qur’an does is the same as denying we have a body, and declaring, "My mind
