I was born in a small town in southern West Virginia in 1942. I graduated from high school in 1960 and moved to Virginia shortly thereafter. I spent the better part of the next fifty-four years working and living in the Washington metropolitan area until I retired in 2013. I loved every minute of the time I spent there and still consider that area my home. I plan to return someday, but for now, I am in seclusion while writing my memoirs.

Dedication
Volume #2 of Poems – Songs and Letters by Vance
is dedicated with the same respect, and thoughts, of
volume #1. that would be, to all the people who
played a part in providing me with a topic to write about,
or gave me a reason to write. their names are very
important to me, but need not be disclosed. they will
know who they are, if or when they read it.
A Special Dedication
Volume #2 of Poems – Songs and Letters by Vance,
{entitled}
The Awesome Oak
holds a very special meaning within. A referencing of
beauty, stature, and a growing love for that which should
never die, but last for ever.
It was one of my sister Roberta’s favorite poems. She also
suggested it for the title of this volume. And so with that
same referencing of beauty, stature, and love, I dedicate this,
The Awesome Oak
volume, of Poems – Songs and Letters
as follows.
To my older sister Roberta, my younger brother Larry,
my first cousin Jimmy Stoneking, my first cousin
Silas Allen, my brother-in-law Bob Martin, and another brother-
In-law’s brother, Thomas Rogers. All of which have passed on
within a three month period prior to the publication of this book.
It has been a very heartfelt time for all the people whose lives
they touched, and meant so much to.
May you rest in peace and know that you are missed and loved.
Major Players
There is only one major player for this volume, and that
would be my wonderfully beautiful niece
,
Tina Shay Rogers – Malloy.
This volume of Poems – Songs and Letters by Vance
is
titled, The Awesome Oak.
It was only made possible through
the technological and literary talents provided by Tina.
Thank you very much!!!
Love you girl:
UNITED STATES MILITARY FORCES
I would also like to express my thanks and appreciation to the
very brave and dedicated soldiers that make up all branches
of this great country’s military forces. Thank you for the protection
and security you have provided for us all down through the years.
I know that I speak for many more than myself when I say, we
sleep much better at night knowing you are there to protect us.
THE WOUNDED WARRIORS!!!
100% of the proceeds or profits from this, The Awesome Oak,
volume #2 of poems songs and letters by Vance will be donated
to the Wounded Warrior Program.
{A personal note}
Thank you for all you have done, and the sacrifices you have
made to allow me to live the good life and keeping me safe
while doing so.
I can not thank you enough.
Indebtedly yours, Keith Vance!!!
