Yvette Benavidez Garcia

YVETTE BENAVIDEZ GARCIA writes stories based on her life experiences. Her father is a great source of information for most of her stories, as well as her children. In addition to writing, Yvette likes capturing the moment by taking pictures of her family and friends. She also enjoys the challenge of copy-catting her family's favorite restaurant meal and turning it into a healthier version (of course!). When she can sneak away for a moment, Yvette loves to garden, swim, watch movies, travel and practice Yoga (Namaste). Yvette was born in Fort Riley, Kansas, and currently lives in Texas with her husband, Ren, and their two children, Ryan Michael and Morgan Paige. She is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, an Army brat, and her family is a proud supporter of our military. The family is also parents to their dog Zoey (a.k.a. Jo Jo), and 5 chickens (Napoleon, Pedro, Kip, Lafawnduh, and Deb.)

If he heard it said, he’d be quick to correct you and say he didn’t WIN anything. You see, a winner is someone who wins something, as in a game or a sport. The medal that Roy received, he earned. He fought in a war and received it because he risked his life to save others. He is known among his military brothers as Tango Mike Mike. The US military uses certain words to designate as call signs. Tango Mike Mike, a nickname given to Roy by his brothers-in-arms, would translate into That Mean Mexican. Although Roy was anything but mean. Roy was a soldier who went above and beyond the call of duty and voluntarily risked his life to retrieve classified documents and save the lives of others. His tenacious attitude, unstoppable drive and unyielding desire to save his comrades earned him the call sign, "Tango Mike
