Win, Lose, Or Draw

AFTER ROCKY JOHNSON’S death on January 15, his son, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson posted a touching tribute on Instagram. It was the most powerful son-to-father tribute I’ve ever read. In only a couple of paragraphs, The Rock conveyed some complex emotions, recalling the young boy who hero-worshipped his dad, alluding to a sometimes-complicated relationship, and, finally, offering the mature perspective of a son who had taken the full measure of his father—flaws and all—and came to regard him with love and respect.
