I am married with 4 children and currently live in Victoria, B.C.. I love travelling and I love kids, specially my own. Our family trips are my inspiration as they are some of the best memories of my life. The time spent together gives us a wonderful family bond and the education my kids have from their trips is invaluable. Having travelled the world fairly extensively, I started to write in order to share with children how amazing our world is and how important it is to look after it and appreciate what we have. I have had so many people over the years tell me that they did not want to go to a certain place because of a fear of something.... ex. "I would never go to Australia because it is full of snakes and spiders". Yes, Australia does have snakes and spiders, but in the 5 years I lived in Australia I saw one snake and never encountered a poisonous spider. Driving in L.A. is kind of crazy, in my opinion, but do people not go to L.A. because it has cars? I want to encourage kids to not live in fear of the unknown. We miss out on so much in life if we live in fear. Our world is incredible.....explore, appreciate, and care for it and each other.I hope my books will inspire you and bring you enjoyment.Sincerely,Jane

    Chapter One

IN WHICH PJ DISCOVERS A MONEY TREE

Honestly, Star Bear, I had thought to tell Fuzzy Beast a little bit about the trip, getting here in the plane, and about the time difference, and the scenery. But all your concerns took up the whole postcard, said PJ grumpily.

We can tell him about the trip when we get home and show him the photos. My concerns are quite important you know.

Yes, well, maybe next time get your own postcard, said PJ, in a humph-whatever tone of voice.

Come on PJ, it’s time to go see the sites, said Emily, bursting into the room in excitement.

    Hooray! Where are we going?

Can I come too? You can’t just leave me here, said Star Bear anxiously.

Not to worry, Peter will get you in a minute. He’s just gone to put on his hiking boots, replied Emily.

A hike. I like hikes, as it means I get to just ride around on your shoulder and look at the scenery, said PJ happily. Where are we hiking?

We are heading out Aunty Liz’s back gate into the Peak District National Park.

Oh good. I was wondering what was out the back gate. I like exploring, replied PJ, as they set off, through the gate and into the woods.

It’s very pretty here, thought PJ. I love the white bark of these birch trees, with their light green foliage above, and all these ferns, and massive rocks, and cliffs, and. . .WHAT on earth is THAT? I’ve never seen such a tree! It looks like it is growing MONEY!!!

Aunty Liz, what of tree is that? It looks like it is a. . .MONEY tree, said PJ.

Yes, well, it is really, Aunty Liz replied.

You have MONEY trees that grow here in the national parks of England! said PJ in amazement. I can think of lots of people back home who would be VERY happy to have a money tree.

I’m sure my parents wouldn’t mind having a money tree, observed Emily.

Yes, quite. But this is a tree you put your money into, it does not grow money for you to take.

Oh. That is too bad! THAT won’t be anywhere near as popular, said PJ in dismay. Still, it looks like lots of people have put their money into the tree.

Yes, so many people have pounded their coins into the log over the years, that they have had to start a second tree over there.

"What fun. Do you think that maybe we could each have a coin to put into the
