    CHAPTER I |  Escape

    I struggle to get up from my antique bed that is trying its very best to break apart. Ahh, Ooh, Eeh! I yell with knee pain. I go to the stove and make some hot chocolate with marshmallows scattered over the sizzling milk. My fingers dance, as I take the scorching hot chocolate to my granddaughter in pain. I asked for coffee, not hot chocolate! she yells at me in hatred. She still takes the glass of hot chocolate and pretends to sip it. I walk back, thinking she does not mind drinking it. By the time I walk another step, I hear a blast. She shattered the glass. 

    My family. My family doesn’t want me anymore. I shed tears. My tears could surely cover the droughts in Kansas. William, my own husband, left me long ago for business, Charlotte has decided to be a model, and Holly, she wants to damage my property! I cannot deal with this house anymore. I decide to pack up and leave. Permanently.

    I enter the most rural areas of this state. I don’t even know exactly where I even am. I walk and walk, until my heart tells me to stop. Follow Your Heart But Take Your Brain With You. William told me that once. I guess the time where I actually use it has come. Granny! someone yells, from what seems like a long distance. Who’s there?! No reply. I assume nobody yelled for me.
