This book will be beneficial in understanding the individual journey and choices. I want my staff to read this. – Denise Plourde, Certified Death Doula and Hospice Director

This is a powerful understanding for anyone who lost someone to suicide. This book can bring more awareness of self. Accepting others openly and honestly without fear has the potential to diminish, if not eliminate the suicide feeling. Excellent, informative, and made me think about how to implement the information. – Dr. Bonnie Laabs, PhD Science teacher

This book helped me let go of my guilt. I have more clarity on why someone would die by suicide. I especially appreciated knowing that we are all loved no matter what. – Nancy, mother died by suicide

I love this book. It gave me so much peace. Many people told me Dominic and I had a soul contract going into this life. While I understood that to a degree, this book gave me a much greater understanding of this concept and why I, or he, would ‘choose’ this. While nothing will take away the heartache, this does help me mentally. Thank you for this gift. – Shawn Curtis, Founder of Dominic’s Light

Thought-provoking! The authors’ takeaway sections were very helpful in understanding the dialog with the souls. – Deb, Retired Administrator

    – Ted, died by suicide, age 45

A Clear Understanding of the Unthinkable

What Those Who Died by Suicide Want You to Know

    INTRODUCTION

    The inspiration for this book:

The increased rate of suicides had been on our radar for several years, especially in young people. According to the CDC, since 2007 death by suicide in ages 10-24 has risen by 60 percent. We wondered how we could best help those contemplating suicide, and if there was a way to prevent it. Our answer came from an unusual source—someone who had died by suicide.

As skilled mediums and intuitives, this book began for us with a request by a suicide to tell his story. In all, we conducted 10 interviews of those who died by their own hand. The information provided is a candid glimpse into each individual’s reason for their death, what happened to them afterward, what they’re experiencing now, and what they want humanity to know. We conclude each chapter with our professional insight of the person’s experience, and some thought-provoking questions for the reader’s consideration.

A Clear Understanding of the Unthinkable can be a catalyst for healing by offering a broader understanding for the purpose of life, death, and the afterlife. This is a book about relationships and how we communicate with one another. It’s our desire the subject of suicide become a stepping stone into the larger discussion of how to live authentically, consciously, and fully aware.

    How this book began—Mary’s story:

I was weeding my flower bed, hands in the dirt, not thinking about anything. Someone started talking as if they were standing next to me, and I knew it was Jon though I hadn’t thought of him in more than 20 years.

Jon said he wanted to tell me his story of suicide. He wanted to do it now, because his mother was no longer alive. He said, Many of us want to tell our stories. To be heard and understood is a universal need. Those who have died by suicide are not different from you.

I was so surprised, but knew with absolute certainty that what I was hearing was true. I knew Jon’s mother had passed the year before, but had forgotten he’d taken his own life.

Shaking with excitement, I ran into the house and called my friend Kristine, my hands still dirty from gardening. I told her what happened, and that we needed to have a conversation with Jon and others who had died by suicide. They had a message, a way for the rest of us to understand a bigger picture and heal from the fear and trauma of death.

We immediately channeled Jon, and then continued with the others who came forward to tell their stories. We asked only for those who had something valuable to share for the healing of humanity in this time period. What follows is their stories channeled through us. Everything in this book is written as it was relayed to us, with extremely minor edits for clarity.

From the beginning, we set out to understand each person’s journey and how it led to suicide. We also wanted to know if anything could’ve been done to prevent it. As one of our participants acknowledged, suicide is painful for everyone.

The information is from the soul’s perspective of those we talked with, and not from a human perspective. It’s our desire that this awareness will lessen suffering and bring a sense of peace and understanding.

    What this book answers:

This book looks at three big questions around suicide, questions we often hear from our clients:

    Why did this happen?

    Is my person okay?

    Where are they now?

If you’re a survivor of someone who died by suicide, it’s normal to have questions, perhaps place blame, feel guilty, or go into despair yourself. Our intention is not to override a clinical viewpoint or provide therapy, but to offer another perspective that gives some insight into why a soul would choose suicide.

This book answers these questions about life, death, and the afterlife:

    What happens when I die?

    Where do I go?

Am I alone when I die?

    Is death painful?

Am I still connected to my loved ones?

    Am I still me?

Will I be judged in the afterlife?

Is there such a thing as reincarnation?

What is karma and is it helpful?

How can I better relate to my loved ones and everyone I interact with?

How can I create more joy, harmony, and
