About this ebook

My name is Norman Lawrence Rowlston, and the following poems represent my thoughts and ideas on all that has happened to me over the last 30 years. Random Thoughts - Rowlston Norman L

    ANGELS OF THE NIGHT

    Silently patrolling throughout the night,

All the way through until dawn’s early light,

A word to a patient laid suffering in bed,

A word to another and a pat on the head,

Immediately drawn by any strange sound,

A fast response to any suffering found,

Medications offered, or just a cup of tea,

Wandering through the night, there for all to see,

The Angels of the Night tend to all our needs,

And never seek fame for any of their deeds,

Waking up suddenly in a room full of strangers,

Surrounded by people, but aware of the dangers,

Alone in a crowd, mind distorted by pain,

Reassured by the nurse, time and again,

Those of us who suffer, watch them with awe,

They will be there for us forever more,

The Angels of the Night, pass along on their way,

Making way only for the Angels of the Day.

    CRY FROM THE HEART

My every day was one of distress,

The doctors diagnosed my time was at hand,

They shipped me from place to place,

In every corner of the land,

But still the grimace remained on my face,

My heart was ruined, my prospects slim,

The pressure of living was tearing me apart,

My hopes of continuing were really dim,

The only chance at last is a new heart.

Hospital is another poem that has been published by a small publishing company in Mablethorpe, in their monthly magazine called First Impressions, the September 1998 issue.

    HOSPITAL

The speed increases as the siren screams,

Another emergency, the worst of my dreams,

Another heart attack, we think, WE KNOW,

Another hospitalisation, time goes so slow,

    At last we arrive at
