About this ebook

“Fourscore and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.” - Abraham Lincoln.
Abraham Lincoln (1809 - 1865) is generally considered to be the greatest U. S. President.
He was born in poverty, self-educated, and went on to become a lawyer, Whig Party leader, state legislator and U.S. Congressman. In 1854, he became leader of the new Republican Party.
He led the North in the American Civil War against the rebellion in the South and their practice of slavery. During this time, in 1863, he gave the most famous speech in American history, the Gettysburg Address, which called for nationalism, republicanism, equal rights, liberty, and democracy for all.
He was assassinated just a few days after the end of the war.
He was President of the United States from 1861 to 1865.

People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be.

When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad. And that's my religion.

Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.

In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.

I destroy my enemies when I make them my friends.

Those who look for the bad in people will surely find it.

Success is going from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.

I'm a success today because I had a friend who believed in me and I didn't have the heart to let him down.

And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.

My concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side, for God is always right.

Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.

The ballot is stronger than the bullet.

I'm a slow walker, but I never walk back.

It often requires more courage to dare to do right than to fear to do wrong.

I dream of a place and a time where America will once again be seen as the last best hope of earth.

Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.

Example is not the main thing in influencing other people; it's the only thing.

Whatever you are, be a good one.

Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.

Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm.

Avoid popularity if you would have peace.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

The best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time.
