    The Worth of One Soul

Have you ever thought about the worth of one soul? I am here to tell you that your soul is worth more than anything on this earth or even in the entire universe.

All through the Bible it tells us how valuable and important souls are. In Genesis God gave a promise to redeem us. If you remember, when Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden God came and walked and talked with Adam and Eve. One day Adam and Eve sinned by eating of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3:6). When God came to them again, they tried to hide from God because of their disobedience (sin). They knew something was wrong (Genesis 3:8). When God cursed Satan, He made a promise to send a redeemer to redeem mankind unto Himself. He said,

Genesis 3:15 – And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. (KJV)

This shows that God loves us so much as to provide a way for us to come back to Him. Through the prophets, they tell us of God’s love for us.

This scripture was fulfilled in Jesus when He came to this earth. Our souls were so important to God that he left the glory He was in and came to this earth as a man to save us from the coming wrath. I Timothy 3:16

Hebrews 2:9-10 - But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. (KJV)

Just think of that, Jesus who is God in the flesh came to this cursed earth to redeem us back to Himself. The Bible says,

John 15:13-14 – Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. (KJV)

Let us look at the word love for a moment. Would you say that if you loved someone, you value or cherish that person very much? No matter how you look at it, when you love someone, you are saying they are worth something to you. For example, I love my fiancée with all my heart; next to God that is, and there is nothing on this earth I would not do for her, because I love her so much. I am saying she is worth something to me. When I say I love her, I am saying she is worth something or she is valuable to me. Similarly, Christ loves each one of us and we are valuable in His heart.

Christ is telling us in these verses that the greatest love someone could have would be the laying down of your own life for a friend. I believe
